  1. I was told that back in the day of the British Empire extending pretty much all round the world, when your military enlistment was up, you were done. Unfortunately that meant wherever you were, you were done. If you wish to go home in England, you had better start working to earn money to buy yourself a ticket(s) home. For some, it may mean a year or two of short range tickets that got one a bit closer each time to England.

  2. Have not done this but I just giggle over the thought. The White Board Technicque. Have a mandatory Parent meeting. Write all the Pack activities on the board and then ask for a chair for each activity. When no raises their hand it gets erased off the board. I have heard by the time you get to Pinewood Derby they get the idea and start stepping up.

Did this for the first time this year !

  3. Kids are kids regardless of age, Shooting model rockets is fun at 8 and 15

I honestly dont see a need period. I am primarily a CS Leader and will remain one because I love having fun with the kids. I don't think I could ever work hands on with the teen boys of today, therefore I will sit back advise, help the SM when needed and stick to my position of Committee Chairman

  4. Let me ask everyone about Scouting software. I have heard a lo about different software to help you keep up with everything from bookkeeping to advancement for the kids. Is there a preferred software for Cub Scouts?

USE ScoutBook!!!! I really enjoy it. Tell all the parents for now to set one up individually and then make ALL the connections. You shouldnt have to spend a dime then. You are allowed 1 free scout, so if ALL the parents setup their 1 free kid, you set up your account, connect all the kids together through connections BAM !!!

However, they are really into the Indian stuff --- mdancing, button blankets and such. Personally, I consider that a waste of time, at least for me. So I'm no longer considering being a volunteer.

Think maybe you ought to find out what the OA is all about first?

"they are really into the Indian stuff --- mdancing," this is as well a VERY big part

  6. Frankly I am put off by adults who overload their uniforms with patches, beads, and pins.

WHY? Just like boys like to show off their recognition and so do adults. Boys just like adults look at these patches and say OHHH I want one, and go the patch to earn them and LEARN something along the way.
