  1. You will have to have dedicated Scouts and parents to pull this off. My last year as WEBELOS Den Leader, I had three boys in this situation. I had them work on two badges each month, if they finished one or two early I assigned them more, we worked on the badges that they needed of course. The rest of the den had all completed their AOL by December, So they pichted in and helped the boys memorize all of the Boy Scout Stuff, great teaching moment for the more experienced boys. It is had work on all involved, you especially, as you are going to be running two programs at the same time.
  2. If your Scout Camp is like ours, the best thing that i took was a stadium seat with good padding. The Scouters that did not, had them for the second weekend. Robert L. DeWitt Chickasaw District Georgia Carolina Council Boy Scouts of America
  3. Then you have Scouters, like me, this year I had a heart attack, found out I need a lung transplant. The military took a severe toll on my knees and back. BUT I still can serve, I just understand my limitations. I will not participate in high adventure activities, or really strenous activities. but there are still many ways that I can support the troop as an ASM. There are plenty of ways to utilize what I lwarned at WoodBadge, and all of the other trainings that I have completed. So perfect physical fitness is not nessessary to do all of the work need in a troop. Robert L. DeWitt Ass
  4. I am feeling very frustrated right now. I just sufferewd a heart attack, and also diagnosed with lung cancer. 8. My son started in the 3rd grade and is now a 2nd year scout, going to his second year summer camp. So I say yes that he can jump right in, and who knows, he might even overcome his shyness. 10. What is the current revision of the BALOO Sylabus? We are having a course on the 20th and I am trying to make sure that we have the most current revision. Thanks. Robert L. DeWitt ASM Troop 12 Chickasaw District Georgia Carolina Council Augusta, Ga And A Good Ole Bear SR-691
  11. Some how or another I fell through the crack, even though I tried to get beaded at the finial weekend of the latest Wood Badge course, which ended the last weekend of April. So I requested that I be beaded at a Roundtable, and last night was the last Roundtable until August. So I took it. All of the Roundtable members that were Wood Badge Trained were very upset, about the circumstances. But at least I am now Fully Wood Badge Trained. I really wanted my Patrol and Troop Guide there but time did not allow for it to happen. Robert L. DeWitt ASM Troop 12 Chickasaw District Georgia Car

  14. Just a point of information, the green Boy Scout belt, is larger and the Belt Loops will not fit on it, if they want to continue to wear the belt loops the will have to wear the Cub Scout blue belt. Robert
  15. The best advise that I can give is to take the WEBELOS Den Leader specific training, and purchase a copy of the WEBELOS Den Leader Manual. Both will explain the differences in the two Ranks differences and how to put them on. You as the Den Leader are the sole person responsible for signing off in their handbooks. Also look on USSCOUTS web site, they have good information and links to other information. Robert
  16. No, the only real physical actrivity that you do is on the second weekend. You hike to your camp site. Sepending on how your camp is set up you shouldn't have to walk or hike very far. Robert DeWitt SR-691 I used to be a good ole Bear
  17. They are wrong, look in the uniform guide and it states that the Religious Knots can be worn on the Boy Scout Uniform. Robert
  18. The training will give you ideas in camping with your WEBELOS den and give you specific ideas on how to complete all of the outdoor related WEBELOS badges. I took it when I was a WEBELOS leader and learned a lot and enjoyed the course. It will also give you ideas on how to do an effective campfire program, and ideas for meal planning. Robert L. 19. My 1st year scout has decided that he wants to earn the Boy Scout Religious Emblem , my question is, the Church that we attend, has no association with a scout unit. How can I get the criteria so that he can fullfil the requirements. We a Baptists, and I do know that thwere is a program for this. Thanks in advance. Robert L. 20. I am teaching a class this month at our University of Scouting, and > would like some input from all of the dedicated trainers out there. > The subject is WEBELOS to Scouts Transition. 22. Kristi, go to someplace like Wal-Mart and get what the call a fleece sleeping bag, it is a small bag that you can put inside of your sleeping bag. If they don't have one, get a fleece throw and fpld it over and then sew the bottom and part of the side and out this into the sleeping bag. It worked for me here in Augusta, Ga last spring, during Wood Badge when it turned cold and rained on friday. Robert L. 23. if you can get some arrow heads, you can go to an archery shop and buy wodeen arrows and make your own fairly cheap. Tjis is what I did.
  24. I have access to all of that, and have most of it in my position. What I am looking for is a Power Point Presentation, I can do one but I am not that good at creating Powerpoint stuff. Thanks
  25. I have decided in the wake of all of the injuries and deaths associated in scouting lately, that I would like to put together some good training to refresh everyone on heat, and cold weather related injuries and other saftey related training. What I am looking for is any thing already done, as I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Do any of you have this, or can you point me in the right direction. You can send me a PM or reply here.
