Jamist649, it may help if you recognize that Allah, Jehovah, and Yahweh are just different names for the same God. The three Abrahamic faiths of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are each derived from the same Old Testament source and worship the same deity.

NJ, I have never understood the biblical chronologies. Of course, when I get a radiocarbon date back from the lab that comes in at 10,000 years old, I have to have faith that the lab isn't pulling a fast one on me.

My understanding of Camping's "math" is that he took the creation date of 4990 BC (??), added 7000 years for the sake of mysticism and then subtracted one year because there was no year zero. Not sure where May 21 came from, so we still have the rest of the year to be concerned about ...

Packsaddle wonders if the resurrection isn't merely a "special case of reincarnation?" I don't think so. In every other example of reincarnation that I know of, the "spirit" returns to reside in a wholly different corpus. In this case, the spirit returned to (or never left) the original corpus. An interesting corollary: Is everyone who believes in the resurrection necessarily a Christian? Surprisingly, there is disagreement.

Having volunteered to serve on staff for an upcoming Trainer's EDGE training seminar, I've been asked to come up with some ideas for chachkas for the participants - mugs, pens, carabiners and the like that could be branded with the course logo or title and serve as a useful reminder of the course. I know there are some pros and cons to this idea in the first place, but assuming that the course director wants this to happen, does anyone have any good ideas? Cheap, easy to pesonalize, useful, scouting related if possible. And sources?? Thanks!

My 2008 CSP guide lists 18 Illowa issues ranging from the S2a and S2b at $3-4 each up to the SA-14 and SA15 at $50-60 each. Total of all issues is $549-647. There probably have been more issues since 2008, and this list does not inlude JSPs. That's quite a gift! Even so, I'll bet it would take several years to see all issues appear on eBay. Have fun!

I think that is a very succinct summary of his world view. And if you think that makes me 'impolite', well, frankly I don't much care.

Seattle, That's a very interesting take. I gather your point is that any label can be rejected as being 'hate speech.' I suppose that may be true; the origin of our infamous 'n-word' is simply a neutral color word from Latin. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigger) Not wanting to be discourteous , what descriptive modifier do you think would be useful as a replacement, in reference to a person who is viscerally repelled by homosexuality, does not want to have anything to do with homosexuals, is opposed to allowing equal civil rights for homosexuals, and/or believes that homosexuality is aberrant? Perhaps language has indeed moved on beyond my usage of the word 'homophobe' and there is another word that is equally useful.
