  1. The two offices have nothing in common except the name. The 'President of Congress' or 'President of the United States in Congress Assembled' as he was variously called had no executive power to speak of and was more like a committee chairman. Now if we just went back to the Articles of the Confederation all our problems would be solved . . . Don't have to worry about no unitary executive there?
  2. I forogt that Coulter now trumps the Constitution.
  3. Borderline treason Gern? You should read the Constitution Gern. It defines treason in the United States. What Rush is doing obviously is not that . . .
  4. If the commander offers an immoral and unwise answer to the problem I would expect the lieutenant to tender his resignation than be part of what he deems wrong. Bad analogy.
  5. Mine is in a box right next to my desk. It is from New York in the 1980s. Its a "Certifiicate of Birth Registration." It says on it that it is proof my birth is registered and that the original birth certificate is on file at the New York State Department of Health, Vital Records Section and a copy is also on file at the local registrar. What we really need is the federal government to come and fix this problem. They could make a simple and efficient standard for all the states. They seem called on to fix every other problem. Thats in the Constitution right?
  6. But someone must eventually pay for it. Sadly, more and more Americans do not even pay income taxes to the federal government. They do not care about voting for someone to take another's money and return it in the form of handouts.
  7. Rush thinks Obama's policies will not help America out of the death spiral. I am sure if Obama embraced conservative ideals Rush would support him.
  8. It is important to note however, that O'Reilly or Hannity do not pretend to be news. Simply "news analysis." Subtle, but in my mind important difference.
  9. Good thing it doesn't matter. We all know the Constitution gives the Congress the main role in setting national policy and the founders all thought it would be the predominant branch, right?
  10. Recalling some of your posts if you are the example of what a Scout leader should be about then I am proud not to be a proper one.
  11. I also noticed the mistake on the 44th President thing by Obama and thought it was funny.
  12. Gen. Washington himself started the use of Bible and the "so help me God."
  13. Don't worry. Paper lasts a long time. Take care of it and it won't turn into "dust."
  14. Things from Hawaii can never be official. We all know it was illegally annexed. ; )
  15. We may argue and jest a lot. But I think it is in the most poor taste to joke about "aborting the unknown."
  16. "That simplicity is only true if the President-elect dies after being chosen by the Electoral College." But wouldn't he technically not be President-elect until after the Electoral College votes are counted? So it is a bit more simple.
  17. Doesn't it just specify that the terms of the old President/Vice President end at noon? And it does say, "Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
  18. The Vice President-elect takes over. The 20th Amendment.
  19. Well now we are on to an actual difference. The power of the President to remove an executive officer and the power of the President to set a "clean water" policy. I am afriad the removal power is not new or radical. This was confirmed as the Tenure of Office Act, the cause of Johnson's impeachment was declared unconstitutional. Myers vs. the United States held the same thing for the Postmaster General. It is clearly within the Presidents power to make such removals. So we are back to the real problem - Congress failing to do its job. Congress has the power to impeach and remove an
