  1. Calico-penn,I also have used the 5gal bucket way back when (30 yrs ago) both for my GS troop and my co-ed Explorer post.I did the same when I drove truck over the Rd for 15 yrs-(some places weren't safe to get out at)did a am/pm trash run.!! Now I use a Maxwell Hse coffee can(2.2 lb) with the handle, line it with small trash liner and just put the lid on between uses, dump in the am. If it should get dirty, it's washable. Still small enough to put in my pack during day Teaching the boys is one thing, try getting a bunch of girls to put pride and all else aside to let mother nature go!!LOL
  2. Hmmm, starting up a used Scout Uniform Exchange(or low cost) sounds like a good service project for hard working Scout.. We parents used to have that when my boys(+ 1 GS) were in scouting!!! Just a thought.
  3. Don't know if this will help, but my dad is 91 and made Eagle in 1938, as the newest Eagle in the council he was asked to be an aide to "Uncle Dan Beard" at the Roosevelt Pilgimage Oct,20,1938.I've got the picture of them and it was in Boy's Life. He does use hearing aides and he's still as "Sharp as a tack".mostly(he says) I know he'd be glad to talk to some young Scout!! Let me know and I'll set you up with contact info. Remember back then Eagles were usually older than they are now days. To add to that story, in letter he was instructed "to be in proper uniform including breeches, sock

  5. Seattle Pioneer, You are to funny! LOL
  6. Thnx Infoscouter!! would you believe My Dad still has his Rt Commish patch and he just told me it's in the mail!! Wonder if it would be legal to wear. Eagle07,I'm glad you started this thread and Good luck in your Scouting Adventures also!!
  7. ScoutNut, The DC+DE are going to be in the process of doing a little re-organization and so on,eventually my position will change to a UC I assume going by what they have discussed with me so far and until then they need some support in getting Rt back on track and up to speed. They are also tring to recruit more commissioners as alot of the ones we have now are wearing many hats. The commish to unit ratio is overloaded.
  8. Now that I have everyone"s input here,I can now talk with the DC+DE and get things clarified as to what hat I'm to wearand who i am working with (he said he was assigning me assigning me asst.)After all this time away from Scouting I sure am junping straight into the fire!! Yes Training is at the top of my list and i've signed up for some and am Re taking some of my SM training voluntarily to polish up the skilland catch up on all the new "lingo" heading for Philmont for the WB Refresher in June and may stay an 2nd week for another course. Just found other thread with RT discussion- intere
  9. Hi, ScoutNut, Yes the DC is combining all levels, but still breaking out into levels after business portion then coming back together for closing. I will be co-ordinating and coming up with a general "theme" every month, we are trying to get more participation of unit reps also, so I am coming up with little "xtra's" for incentive, small raffles that result in Gag gifts or usefull items for the adults(no cost or sale involved), organize sign-in's and refreshments, handouts and so on.More advanced than a Pack meeting but still interesting for the Scout Masters. So if anyone has ideas along that
  10. Right now I am just a RT Commissioner, so that's the patch mystery needing to be answered. Probably be assigned a unit towards end of year if the DC's plans materialize. It's good to be back, but the kids look so young !!!
  11. My question is almost same, I was just appointed a Roundtable Commissioner, not Scout,Cub or Venturer,Just main RT Commissioner and I am to co-ordinate each months RT, what color loops would I wear and Is there a plain RT Commissioner position patch? If not what would I wear to show my official position? I know they used to have a patch for that because I have my Dad's old one but it's not the red one they have now. I will be assigned a unit in the fall hopefully. Question 2, I was trained as Scoutmaster back in 1980 can I wear the "trained" strip and knot? also I rcvd my WB beads in Marc
