"Seems like" is the key expression. From what I read here, it seems like the AHG won't allow some girls to join ... that's false. It seems like the AHG is going to attempt to convert girls to certain religions or denominations, and it seems like the AHG is going to have a heavy influence on Cub packs. This is all nonsense, and has no proof. It's totally speculative.
The Boy Scouts and Heritage Girls appreciate, respect and support each other. Count me in.

The AHG and the BSA have a memorandum of Mutual Support. The BSA has the same memorandum status with the African Methodist Episcopal Church, AMVETS, the Islamic Society of North America, Knights of Columbus, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Salvation Army, and Trout Unlimited. These organizations all have specific and even excusionary joining requirements and missions. Are we whining about them too? Are we blasting the BSA for aligning with groups that cater to Blacks, Catholics, Conservative Lutherans, Veterans, and Muslims? Are they discriminating against Baptists, Girl Scouts or salmon?
It's a letter of mutual support! Both groups like what the other is doing. What are we afraid of?!

As much as I'm in favor of Heritage Girls, the conversation between Rooster and BadenP is an illustration of how uncomfortable things can become between different Christian churches. They're both right ... so now what?
Bottom line for me, however, is that I'm still in strong support of AHG's strong program focused on faith, values, leadership, and integrity. It's a good partner for BSA.

*** And how did we happen to assume that?

I'll tell you what, BP. Give me the name of that diocese, and I'll contact AHG for you and get to the bottom of this, unless you'd like to do that yourself. All this name-calling isn't doing anybody any good, including you.

*** Absolutely false.

I think we need to stay away from the term twin. I think what was meant is nothing more than a pack and troop being chartered by the same CO. There would hopefully be an event or two during the year where there's some interaction, but the units are totally separate. I think that the pack and AHG troop (apropriate age group within the troop)could go to the zoo or science museum or a service project together. The older girls could also do something with the troop once or twice a year.
I don't see "twinning" meaning any more than that.

I wouldn't be asking that question here. Ask your fellow TGs and your ASM/TGs or SM.

Well stated, Scoutfish. Your description of caution and awareness shouldn't be thought of as racist, but it would be to some. There are some fine extreme cases we can compare it to. Going to Mexico puts you in the presence of many fine people who appreciate your being there. It also puts you in the presence of some who will kill you for your shoes and your wallet. Arabic people in this country undergo the same fate. There are people here who hate them. Are they prejudiced? Yes. Is that hard to understand? No.
Was Trayvon a threat? Probably not to most. Maybe. We weren't there, so we don't know. It seems obvious that he was a threat to the shooter. Why? Again, we don't know. Was a crime committed? Sure looks like it, but I don't know. I wasn't there. I'm glad I wasn't there. This is going to get real ugly, and that's sad.

You started out just fine, but ended in hearsay again. Thanks for allowing me to believe what I want. It's clear we will never agree on this, and I'm happy with that. I'm going by what I know and by what I've seen myself. I'd encourage others to do likewise ... go and see.

Everything you've said about AHG has been false so far, so I don't know why I should believe what you just wrote. Are you going to tell us next that the leaders were dragged away in handcuffs? I don't buy any of it. Your conclusions and vitriolic statements about AHG are untrue, and I would encourage any reader not to believe a single word of it.

And I believe they will thrive for that same reason, however most of negativity I'm reading here is based upon false and misleading rumors, and I'd label it as either ignorance or prejudice; probably both.

This is a lot of noise over nothing. Moving it around? Trying to put it in your own back yard? It costs a lot of money to set up a site. Why keep reinventing the wheel? By the way, the age for a Jamboree particapant is 12 thru 20.

The BSA is 'aligned' with organizations that share similar values.

The announcement song is way off base. Pay close attention ... this is one of the few times I'll be in agreement with Basementdweller regarding Wood Badge. There is no room for that song in Wood Badge. What are we modeling? Are we supposed to go back and teach Cubs how to be discourteous with adults? Throw it out!
If your SM would read the Course Director's Staff Guide, he/she would discover that the morning assembly isn't supposed to be fun and games. Do that elsewhere. I'd skip the weather rock too.

Thanks, Beav. Let's get back to the legal resident issue. We've had this discussion before regarding BSA. If the person is not a legal resident, what does that make them? Is that really anti-immigrant?
If AHG requires leaders to hold US citizenship or legal residence, why is that an issue?

To be a leader in AHG, you must be an American Citizen. You can delude yourself into thinking this isn't anti-immigrant, but I can't think of a better way to discourage immigrant families from joining than requiring leaders to be American citizens.
*** Sorry you think I'm deluding myself, but your statement happens to be false. Don't know the source of you information, but here's the fact: One needs to be a legal resident.
Call that anti-immigrant if you wish, but I don't agree.

I'll pass, thanks.
I'm not a fan of creating a patch simply for the sake of creating a patch, especially if it's just for trading purposes.
Wood Badge and NYLT shoulder strips are too over the top for me. There are other ways to recognize people and to represent an event. I know everyone has their own opinion on it, and that's fine. I just don't see why a Wood Badge course needs something more than the Wood Badge. T-shirts? Nice. Hats? Also nice. Patches? I still don't get that.

All this custom-made patch stuff sounds odd and overdone to me. I don't see a purpose for it.

From where did the anti-immigrant thing come?
Incredibly small? Let's not forget growing incredibly fast.
AHG: Faith-based. Clearly stated ideals.
GSUSA: Cookies
Advantage? Girl Scouts??

Were they up front about being a Christian organization? Absolutely. Is that a problem?

I haven't seen a single word in camilam42's posts that imply that he looks down on anyone else's units because of uniforming. Where did that notion come from? He's talking about Methods, his troop's PLC, and how his troop operates. Does this have something to do with your unit? No. Give it a rest. If you don't want to emphasize Scouting's Methods, that's up to you and your own Scouts. Camilam42's not telling you what to do. Neither am I. Wear what you wish. Set whatever example you see fit. If you ever join camilam42's unit, then you can argue about it in person.

Basement,
I'm not trackin'.
You think BS should be more like GS?
