Sounds like they'd be a huge asset to the class. They are close to the scouts and have a lot of knowledge to impart on participants. I would agree to see if there was a place for them to help teach the class.

I feel ya Renax. You have to know your limits. If you're topped out take a camp off. Let everyone know in advance you can't make that camp so they can plan accordingly. Use the weekend to plan a really cool Webelo Den camp out. You're almost out and they have to start looking for new families to take over. It might be they'll step up when the opportunity becomes available.

Personally, I'd let it roll off. I want the kids to experience what it's like to be a boy scout and the further the parents stay the better. I understand your frustration, having planned this all out.

In my opinion, WB does improve program and longevity. You make contacts, learn more about BSA and become a better leader. I would encourage Webelos Den Leaders to go because it helps them better prepare their Webelos for the Boy Scout transition.

We don't do it at either pack or den meetings. One pack I UC for does provide snacks at their pack meetings.

I'm all for jazzing up the program as much as possible but you don't want to do everything all at once. They need reasons to progress. I like having specific wolf dens.

On the skipping and being held back I'd take that case by case. I wouldn't require a boy to repeat his wolf year if he was held back in school. I'd advance him along with the rest of his den. "The Bear Cub Scout program is for boys who have completed second grade (or are age 9). "

I would have a tent designated for Webelos only and let the kids all tent together. They are supposed to pitch a tent and sleep in it. Let the Webelos have their own tent and tell the adults it's part of outdoorsman.

With your parent or guardian, take part in a Webelos den overnight campout or a family campout. Sleep in a tent that you have helped pitch.

That's a new one on me. We usually have kids running around during the meeting but it's never been too much of a problem. If they vote to pay for dinner and child care add it to the budget and let them know up front how much dues will have to be raised.

I haven't seen any hating in my council.

We don't award the BL again. They redo the requirements as Webelos. I try to see if we can get the pin.

So far, we've made a bird house (Bear), bat house(Webelos I), shelf/coat rack combo (Webelos I) and a tool box (bear father's day project), Hat rack (Wolf). Next up is a stool.

Absolutely he can do it. He may need to cover some of the material that you've already gone over but he only needs 8 activity pins. I assume you already did Fitness and Citizenship. He'll go camping with you, right? and you've planned to meet with other Troops.

Fitness, Citizenship, Readyman, Outdoorsman, Mental Skill (Scholar), Tech Group (Handyman) and two others. That's just about one a month.

What about powder horn. That seems like a skills course.

That is messed up. I understand how you feel, it's only human. We all bust our tails to try to put on a good program. I can see him getting through Bears with only parent sign off. Next year in Webelos, it's the Den Leader or Asst Den Leader that signs off on requirements. Webelos badge requirement is "Be an active member of your Webelos den for 3 months." Try not to let it get to you. Put on the best program you can.

We meet about 2 times a month as a pack. It's not a specific day. We schedule events as we find them. We always look for freebees or discount nights for skating or bowling. We also team up with other Packs to do joint events.

Same here as TwoCubdad, most just wear the beads. I wear the neckerchief when ever a full uniform is in order. Pack meetings I wear my Webelos Den Leader Necker Chief. What ever floats your boat, you earned it.
