  1. I'm headed back next week and it has been worth it for me. The course all about being a successful troop and patrol. They work on the dynamics with in patrols, leadership , listening and team building skills. How to conduct service projects and LNT. It gets you thinking about how you deliver scouting. It also connects you to other dedicated scouters.

If you don't think you want to take it yet, don't. Wait until your ready to get with other Scouters to have some fun and hopefully learn something.

I used to be an Owl...

  2. We don't use them. I bought my son one and loaded it up with all his patches but he doesn't wear it. Probably because he's the only one in the Pack that has one. I use it as a prop when I go to schools to recruit. Lots of great ideas about making them and passing them out. I have no idea what the scouts do with all the patches they earn.

  3. We have done serveral things that count. We made a rooster recipe holder for Mother's Day and a key shaped key hanger for Father's Day. This year we will be making a picture frame for Mom. Not sure what we'll make for Dad this year.(This message has been edited by austinole)

  4. I asked him if he wanted to and he said yes. We went to school orientation and met with the three representatives of the packs there. We went to the first pack and stayed.

I was a cub scout and briefly a boy scout. My parents were my Den Leaders. Now I am my son's Den Leader. My wife is the Tiger Den Leader.

  5. It's not an option for our kids. We add it to the pack registration fee and everyone gets it. My son enjoys getting his mail every month and we read most all the stories. He really enjoyed reading about the cave campers this past month. I recall getting boys life when I was a scout and I always flipped straight back to the cartoons.

  6. I did a buffet one campout. They could chose from chicken, scallops, shrimp, salom and hamburgers. We just got the bags of frozen stuff from Walmart. We added butter and garlic and all turned out really well. A really good addition is canned whole potatos. Just add salt and pepper and they will come out great.

For desert the banana boat is a winner. Cut out a wedge of the banana fill it with marshmellos and chocolate chips. It's really good.

Make the foil packs with a handle and name on them so it's easy to move them around.

  7. You must be my long lost twin. I am exactly the same way. I'm the DL of my son's wolf den. I try to have everything planned out but I go so quickly through it I'm done in about 15 minutes. This den meeting I'm going to divide it up so I can't rush so much. We're going to have an outdoor activity to work out some of that energy (hopefully). Then do some inside work.

    You're not alone.
