  1. im not sure where to put this, so i put it here. my dad would like to become the rifle MB counsler for our troop, but in order to do that he needs to get NRA cetification as a range master. Does anyone know where he could do this? thanks hacimsaalk12
  2. Has anyone here gone down the Cheat river in Mid-may? that is when we are going, and i was wondering wut u all thought of it then. was it ok, or was it boring thanks
  3. in our troop, no one is allowed a cell phone (or anything else electronic) except for the SM. he only carries a cell phone for emergencies. there is no need for any one else to have one. why would you want one anyways. all it does is disrupt the peaceful feeling of nature. out here most places we cant get reception anyhow.
  4. here (PA) we usually have enough snow to do just bout anything you want. we even had enough to our klondike with wheels(which we usually do). right now we still have 3 foot of snow in the drifts
  5. well, if i remember reading right, it says in the star, life and eagle ranks, that you must remain active in your troop for ______amount of months as a _________ scout. there is also a req. that says you must hold a posistion for _____ months. i think if you start telling them that they must remain active, they will A.come back and start taking charge, or B. drop out. this is a good way to see who really wants eagle, and who is just here for te fun.
  6. in our troopo, we collect $8 for a campout. $6 goes to food, the other $2 the troop keeps for camp fees.
  7. 1. in our troop:0 2. in our troop:0 3 for troop oriented activites:$8(6 goes to food, troop keeps 2$ for camping fees) disctrict/council events:0 our troop charges what it does, and we eat extremely well. we barely ever go over our foood budget. why is your troops cost so high? annual recharter fees are $30 flat. scout camp and big trips(done every 2 summers for obvious purposes) cost at most $175. total that ive probably comes to $400 and that is stuff i use for other than scouts. i think your troop needs to go over its budget again, and work some things out.
  8. in our troop, there isnt anything written, but the advancement chair wont take the card unless another scout comes over and does the badge with you.also, if another counsler is available in the district, the scout is suppossed to go to them. for example, my dad was the only counsler who had camping mb, within our district. my friend came over, and we did it and finished it side by side. my dad also has enviromental science, but another asm has it also, so i have to go to him.
  9. our spl's dad was the SM, and has since stepped down(like a month ago), although he is still in the troop. he called him by dad. everyone else called him Mr. Wright, except when it was just older scouts who did stuff outside of the troop with him, then we called him Eugene. my dad is also in the troop, and our current SM has a son in the troop. we also call our fathers dad, but everyone else calls them Mr. Klaas, and Mr. Gilson.
  10. we (as an adventure patrol) are planning a hiking trip in maine in June/july. we would like to do the Applichian trail, and it needs to take a week or so. anyone have any ideas.
  11. well, i see nothing wrong with playing small games of poker, as long as that is not the only things the scouts do. in our troop, everything has to be done, and we are only allowed playing for 2 hrs-max. if there are any arguments over it, it goes away. i am going to try to stay away from this one for the most part, b/c i almost got booted out of meritbadge.com.b/c of a heated diccussion like this.
  12. does anyone have any ideas for lightweight hiking food. right now, we eat mtn house meals for supper, we are looking for an improvement. anyone have any ideas?
