August 1984 was when teh CS Sports Program was unveiled. It was timed for the 75th Anniversary of Scouting in 1985. A few years later the Academics program came out. Then they were merged.

I kinda liked my skill awards, especially the early versions that were made of heavier metal. They got all scratched up over the years, camping and playing british bulldog at meetings. When I got my Philmont belt, that's when I retired the SAs.

Kind of the same for me.

I also liked how there were other metal belt loops made around the same time. Once for National Jamboree, NOACs, World Jamborees, Regions, and some councils (and lodges) had their own made for various things.
