Knight 10
I'm looking for ideas for Boy Scouts to do for Memorial Day. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Stosh 3452
Go to a couple of cemeteries where veterans are buried that don't have a ceremony and do one just for them. Invite a veteran to come to your gathering and talk to the boys about his experiences. Do a flag retirement. Stosh
Lisabob 13
My son's troop marches in the town's parade and participates in the ceremonies honoring vets at the local cemeteries. Many of the local cub packs do the same. Check with the American Legion or VFW to see what they have planned in your area, and ask how you can help. (Flag day is coming up too. Might want to think about ways to coordinate that one as well. We typically help the Elks and Legion with a flag ceremony and flag retirement.)
Eagle92 110
Most of the troops, and a few of the packs, help out the VFW and AL to put up flags the saturday before Memorial Day, and then we take down at 5PM on Memorial Day. That's what I'll be doing this year for the first time with TC son.
