The Distinguished Commissioners Knot is hardly new. Be around atleast 5-10 years.

And considered its existance, and that commissioners can earn the Scouter's Key, what would the purpose of another new knot for commissioner service be?

Here is the text of the email from another list:

This is refering to a NEW knot.

Why? I do not know.

I was hoping that someone would have more info than the orginal source.

Thanks

For you knot hounds...(or is that knot heads?)

Just received word that National has approved a new

knot, for those with a doctorate in commissioner

science. I don't have the requirements, just know

that it has been approved, and that the requirements

are such that it can be earned and worn even by folks

in councils without a college of commissioner science.

Maybe the new knot your thinking of is the one earned by giving all those speaches????

"...We are launching tonight a national BSA speakers bank. Members of the speakers bank will be nominated by Scout executives and our goal will be to have a minimum of 1,000 speakers recruited into the program by the end of this year. I am also delighted to announce our four charter members of this group

President Rick Cronk.

Commissioner Don Belcher.

Rabbi Peter Hyman.

And former national commissioner, Earl Graves.

Not a bad start. All tools, templates, and resources for these speakers have been developed by Edelman Worldwide and will be available online. A special Web site has been created for speakers to access programs and materials and to record where they have spoken and what issues they may have encountered and what additional help they may need. We are even going to have a speakers bank patch. And if you are really good, there may even be a new square knot in our future."
