ZebraLongwing
My son is very motivated to go camping out of state and/or country, but the rest of the scouts in his Troop are not. Can anyone tell me what camps are available in the US and abroad for provo scouts they can recommend? Any US location or location run by a Scouting America council abroad would be fine. The rest of the family will just vacation nearby that week if it's too far from home. This is for next summer. He'll be 14 years old, most likely a Star Scout but possibly a Life Scout, and is happy to do any fundraising/training/testing required beforehand to participate. Thank you! Cherokee Scout Reservation in NC has a provisional troop. My son enjoyed the merit badges there. They run a great camp, they spend a lot of money on quality food, and have some good evening activities.
Tron
Samoset council in WI has a big provisional program. I think canyon camp in IL has a provisional week. I think NE IL council has a provisional week at their big camp in Northern WI as well.
Eagle_Chris
Michigan Council has the Great Lakes Kayak Adventure in August. It is a great high adventure opportunity to kayak in three of the Great Lakes, sleep on an island, and see many of Upper Michigan’s great outdoor sites like Pictured Rocks and many waterfalls.
