CPAC...Round them up and Send them to Camp Gitmo

Recommended Posts

Listening to this pack of jackals makes me ill. After shredding the Constitution with the Patriot Act, blowing $4 Trillion in a false war, bloating the government, then finally standing back as the economy implodes the response from Michael Steel is "My bad"

Maybe they can old their next conference at Camp Gitmo. I hear Rush Limbaugh has some discount T-Shirts to pass out.

Forget Gitmo - Obama is closing it. As far as being ill, spending nearly $800,000,000.00 and then asking for another $410,000,000.00 makes me quite ill. The baby boomers children and grandchildren and greatgrandchildren will curse this generation as the worst in the history of the former Republic since Obama is leading us headlong into socialism.

Nah, we should balance the budget.

Pretty easy.

George Washington had 5 cabinet departments.

War (now Defense)

Treasury

State

Postmaster-General

Attorney Genral

Cut all the other departments and everything that is in them.

We would be cutting the debt real fast.

COMMENT: Well, I personally think politics doesn't belong in Scouting, but that comment is too rich to ignore.

Bush gave almost a billion to churches (so long as the ministers agreed to support him and his policies from the pulpit.)

Bush gave trillions to banks, AIG (a swiss owned insurance company) and others who have not used it to loosen credit or save homes (although the statute passed for the money says in its "purpose" section that it is intended for the purchase and refinance of residential mortgages), but instead either transferred the money out of the US, or used some of it for bonuses, perks and dividends. AIG tripled executive bonuses retroactively with its money.

Bush gave trillions to oil companies because they didn't have the money to explore (while they set records for profits), remembering that all the majors in the US now are foreign owned companies.

Bush gave no bid, no tax contracts to Haliburton and related companies for the war. No one in history ever had a law passed to make their earnings from government contracts tax exempt until Haliburton. This is the same Bush who raised taxes 6 times on the middle class and 3 times on social security earnings.

Having the government give your money to those who have not earned it is socialism. In order to catch Bush, Obama will have to work overtime indeed.

Am I a Democrat. No. I'm a Republican and an Army Vet who never could support the draft dodging, AWOL, coke using, facist who preceded Obama. But I'm also an optimist -- so HOPE abounds.

um dude every president dating back to Lincoln has been leading us down the Federalism/socialist road. I say its time to split the country into STATES. If you don't like the one ur in find one you like. Some will be socialist utopias no doubt and others will be hard scrabble almost anarchy but at least there will be no more one size fits all from Washington DC. Furthermore there will be no more overseas empire building on either side.

I don't really believe that. What about Andrew Johnson? Or Grover Cleveland? Or Calvin Coolidge?

Other Presidents did some deregulation Reagan, Bush. Steps away from socialism as way. Though I guess they made some steps towards.

It seems Obama's are bigger steps than most at least though. With the possible exceptions of Lincoln, Wilson, and FDR.

I don't know what you mean by Federalism/Socialist mode. They are not the same. . .

I agree we should split into independent states. Or at least restore the Articles of Confederation.

Liberals claim to be for freedom of speech but I have often seen comments like the title of this thread where they want to suppress speech. After Bush beat Gore, liberals were vocal about not liking him or his policies. They called him names and made cruel jokes. Now with Obama, conservatives are supposed to be nice and not be critical. Criticizing Bush was patriotic but criticizing Obama is not OK. Liberals do not support freedom of speech unless it reflects their values. Bush was definitely not a conservative. Had the democrats offered even a half way decent candidate, many of us would have considered voting for the democrat. Defending Bush by criticizing Clinton is bogus as is defending Obama by criticizing Bush.

Yah, now here's where Scouting comes back in.

Do yeh feel that it shows responsibility and character, and is consistent with the Oath and Law, to do the same thing to President Obama?

It is neither unscoutlike nor unpatriotic to dislike the president or his policies. What I don't like is name calling and I would consider that unscoutlike.

mmhardy,

Can you name anybody you know who was ever hassled, arrested, or sent to prison under the Patriot Act?

The fact that the PA is even vaguely close to the German Enabling Act of 1933 should give every American pause. As to your question, a non-starter. Akin to "Do you personally know anyone who has been arrested for murder?" However there are plenty of examples. Consider the following cases of the Patriot Act's use toward US citizens just like you and I:

Homeland Security Agents Visit Toy Store

So far as she knows, Pufferbelly Toys owner Stephanie Cox hasn't been passing any state secrets to sinister foreign governments, or violating obscure clauses in the Patriot Act.

In Terror War, 2nd Track for Suspects

The Bush administration is developing a parallel legal system in which terrorism suspects -- U.S. citizens and noncitizens alike -- may be investigated, jailed, interrogated, tried and punished without legal protections guaranteed by the ordinary system, lawyers inside and outside the government say.

Court: U.S. Can Hold Citizens as Enemy Combatants

A federal appeals court today ruled that the government has properly detained an American-born man captured with Taliban forces in Afghanistan without an attorney and has legally declared him an enemy combatant.

Patriot Act Being Used to Harrass BlackBoxVoting.org website

It appears that they may be using the Patriot Act to circumvent some of the civil rights protections laid down in the 60s. You see, it is illegal for a government agency to go in and demand the list of all the members of a group. And you can't investigate leaks to journalists by going in and grabbing the reporter's computer.

Secret Service Questions Students

Some teachers in Oakland are rallying behind two students who were interrogated by the Secret Service. That followed remarks the teenagers made about the President during a class discussion. The incident has many people angry. It's good to see the real terrorists are being hunted down.

Boy investigated by FBI for researching paper on Chesapeake Bay Bridge

A 12-year-old kid at Boys' Latin researches a paper on the Bay Bridge, and suddenly the Joint Terrorist Task Force shows up in the headmaster's office.

Photographer Arrested "Under Patriot Act"

A Denver photographer was arrested while taking pictures in Denver, during Vice President Dick Cheney's visit to the city. Denver resident Mike Maginnis reports being physically assaulted by Denver police.

Webmaster Sherman Austin, Jailed under PATRIOT Act

Political prisoner Sherman Austin, who made headlines last year after being targeted as one of the first casualties of the infamous USA PATRIOT Act, was released from the Federal Corrections Institute in Tucson and left Arizona July 12 to return to Los Angeles.

Using The Patriot Act To Target Patriots

The Patriot Act has been used to obtain search warrants against doctors and scientists who had been warning about the threat of bioterrorism in the U.S.

Shopkeeper deported from South Carolina under PATRIOT Act killed in Pakistan

After marrying a naturalized U.S. citizen, having two U.S.-born children and running a Rock Hill convenience store for years, Khan was rounded up in post-Sept. 11, 2001, sweeps that targeted Muslim immigrants.

ARTISTS SUBPOENAED IN USA PATRIOT ACT CASE

Three Four artists have been served subpoenas to appear before a federal grand jury that will consider bioterrorism charges against a university professor whose art involves the use of simple biology equipment.

British Journalist Detained, Harrassed On Trip To LA

When writer Elena Lappin flew to LA, she dreamed of a sunkissed, laid-back city. But that was before airport officials decided to detain her as a threat to security.

Lincoln, FDR, and Wilson all has worst constitutional abuses during wartime.

I say this not to make excuses, but wondering why nobody cares?

These men are ranked among our greatest Presidents?

Anybody?
