Yah, lookin' for some fellow old-timers...

 

Does anybody remember the timing and rationale for the BSA switching to "adult run" on BOR's? My aging, addled brain ain't up to the task.

I'm pretty sure it happened in the late 80s. I know we did it when I was a youth (70s-80s).

Gee, I must be younger than I thought, I can't remember it ever being anything but adult led.

In my scout days (80's) all BORs were conducted by adults from the troop committee. We had one gentleman in particular with NO left arm (WW2 vet) and I always didnt know how to give the scout handshake in this situation! However I have a 1972 printing of "Patrol and Troop Leadership" (ah-remember the green covers?) which states the 'The progress review for TF, SC, and FC is handled by the troop leaders council. On pg. 99 titled 'Who Serves?'it says the PL's serve and the SPL, or when assigned the ASPL serves as the chairman of the review. Hey, I know its 34 years old, but that old stuff worked well then! The old book goes on to say S,L, and E 'scorecards' are reviewed be the TLC BUT the troop committee handles the actual review itself.(This message has been edited by local1400)
