  1. Has anyone heard about the U.S. Regulation bugle found at http://www.usregulationbugle.com ? I think my summer camp uses this or a similar bugle, and was wondering what others have experienced or heard before I recommend it to a Scout. Thanks AJR (minor edit)(This message has been edited by AJR2305GDC)
  2. They also hold the youth Den Chief cords on the left shoulder ... I guess both of them could be used
  3. Must have been a different unit. I was at Gardner Dam Camp in White Lake, WI
  4. jblake47: what camp and unit? I may have seen that troop this summer at the camp I worked at
  5. Two points to mention: 1) Shortridge: there are also the old exploring square knots (Ace, Ranger, Silver I, Silver II, Explorer Achievement Award, G.O.L.D. Award, Young American Award) and the NESA Eagle Scout Life Member knots. 2) A question: which device does one wear if he is a member of a Boy Scout troop and a camp staff venture crew if he earns the Pope Pius XII award (Catholic; older Scout/Venturer/Sea Scout)?
  6. Thanks to everyone for your great advice. AJR2305GDC
  7. OK, so I know that this subforum is geared more toward camping equipment, but I couldn't find a better place to ask this question, so... I'm looking for recommendations for a bugle for the Bugling Merit Badge and bugling in a troop in general. If anyone has any recommendations, they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! 8. Agreed that it can't be financial pressures. I know someone who works at the National Scout Shop in my council. He said that the patches are sometimes marked up to 250% of cost.
  9. Another vote for Bay Lakes Council's Wolf River Adventures program. Great program, great staff, lots of great treks to go on. Also, one of Bay Lakes' camps, Bear Paw, has a natural climbing face, while Gardner Dam has a climbing tower ... different, but equally great, experiences. Also, Gardner Dam is on the banks of the Wolf River, one of only a handful of summer camps in the country situated on a whitewater river!

  11. Thanks. Can this be worn on the uniform?
  12. Is the 10th Anniversary Venturing boonie hat still considered an "official" hat to wear with a Venturing uniform?
  13. I am wondering if Scouts who complete the requirements for the United States Heritage Award can wear the medal(s) on the uniform. We originally found out about the award from a link on our council web site, and are curious if the scouts can wear the medal. http://www.nationstrails.com/awards/index.html Thanks!
