We cross our second year Webelos/AOL Scouts over in January. This gives them time to adjust to Troop life, and get some Troop camping under their belt before Summer Camp. Our Webelos meet through the summer, so no issues getting everything accomplished before crossover. The Cubmaster and the Webelos DL, in conjunction with the Scoutmaster, should make the call, not the CC (I am a former CM and current CC of a pack). How close is he to earning his Arrow of Light? Can it be done by Feb? May? He can cross over without earning AOL as long as he meets the Boy Scout Joining Requirements (Be a boy who is 11 years old, or one who has completed the fifth grade or earned the Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years old, but is not yet 18 years old.) Some DE's will sign up any one regardless if they qualify or not, so that is why the Council Registrar would be the one to talk too, after all they are the one who will enter in the application. My guess is they will have to wait.

If he does not meet the joining requirements, then I do not see how his application will be accepted. I would contact the registrar for your council, not the DE. The registrar will tell you if the application will be accepted or not.

Some just don't wear the trained patch, but most of the ones I deal with (myself included) do wear the trained patch. As a District Commissioner, I make sure my folks are trained and are given the patch to wear, if they choose. I know of unit leaders who are trained that do not wear the patch as well, but I know they are trained, it does not bother me. Like knots, some like to wear all the bling, and some don't, just a choice.

You are correct basement, and I have read the link completely and I understand it completely. People here though seem to think pack camping is not family camping, that is my point. When my "family" go camping we are not scout camping, but when a pack goes camping it is called "Family" camping by BSA standards, as Packs do things to include the family.
