I wonder if we should ask for a ruling on these?

Virtually unlimited constant rate of fire. Variable cone of destruction. Burst mode. One very potent weapon.

  2. Perhaps the best tent for a SM would be one of those big Arabian tents like in the movies with all the pillows and servants. The SPL would have request an audience with the SM before being granted permission to enter. The SPL would only be allowed to only bring solutions to the SM not problems for fear of loosing a digit or limb. This could solve a whole lot of problems.

  3. I'm laughing right now because we hear so much disdain for "plop" camping, and yet so many folks have these Taj Mahal tents with cots, mattresses, refrigerators and Jacuzzis. ;)

Well there is such things as Cub and Family Camping as well you know.

Send me a link to the one with the Jacuzzi, I want one of those.

If one does get one of the big complex tents with separate rooms and all make sure you set it up at home first and not stop at Wal Mart on the way to the campground. The new ASM at my old troop bought this overly complex Kelty with a half dozen different pole sizes. After watching him struggle with it in the dark for a good half hour I finally grabbed the directions out of the box and helped him out. :)

  4. Cots are really hard on tent floors. Even the type with lateral crossbars on the ground and going to tug and pull on the floor especially with wet or soft ground. I have the Texsport King cot I use for summer camp and a REI 3.5" XL pad, but only outside or in wall tents. Unless it is long term camp the hassle lugging of around and setting up a cot is just not worth it to me.

As far as a stand up tent the Eureka Tetragon line is decent and I bought a 8 man (4 man, always divide by half) 6 years ago for $200. It has held up pretty well and the floor has not leaked once despite surviving several soaking camporees. One of my poles splintered recently when a Scout was a little to aggressive with helping me set it up, but you can get replacement pole sections.

  5. N=1 but my crossover doesn't like Boy Scout campouts very much. He has to do stuff, it was much more fun when the adults did everthing for him. Mom still cuts his meat and lays out his cloths in the morning. :( Not happy about that one but marriage is compromise.

  6. We all know many of the most popular Faith's LOVE to talk about them especially to, you know, evangelize. There are many faiths that are more personal in nature and discussing them with others is not encouraged and for good reason obviously.

The BSA seems intent on forcing "lads" to violate their own religiosity, in hopes of finding a "gotcha" moment.

  7. I hope yours is better than the Conclave I went to last weekend. Nothing happened. A few PowerPoint presentations, some prepackaged uncrustables for lunch. Yep that about sums it up. The consensus was it was the worst Conclave anyone had ever been to. Fortunately my lodge was not the host.

The most enlightening aspect was a 23 year old ASM was bragging about taking advantage of some "stupid" kid at the patch trading tables.

  8. You kill me KDD.

Papayaman, welcome. Feel free to chime in on topics that interest you.

    Sorry, how rude of me.

    Welcome Papayaman!

    6. Is the Vive worth the extra cost over the Rift or do you think it is better to wait for the 2nd Gen?
