  1. I'm doing a Klondike Derby right now and I have been given a $1000 buget which I was happy with till I found out the Patch guy in our distict needs $500 and the council wants 10% for the snafu buget we didn't have much to work with so we came up with a adult event for the event and are charging for that to make the difference up. After all that I hope to be ahead $35 and I think that for a Good event that the kids will enjoy if were in the black at all it's a good thing.as long as we don't go crazy events are for the kids not the wallet.as for paying for training and other behind the scene thi
  2. I told my wife about this post and she said that her District Scouters would never hesitate to call her superiors to let them know that she was out of uniform. Many volunteers (even those who wear half uniform) would find it almost offensive that the DE was showing up at functions in only half of a uniform not to mention to District meetings. The only District Meeting that allows for a professional or any volunteer to be out of uniform is the District Committee meeting because non-scouters can be present on DC. Even then, she is careful to dress in professional attire. She also said that

  5. Hello all just thought I'd chime in here My wife is also my DE and she would never dream of a half uniform and most of what she does is behind the scenes but she still puts in 60-70 hrs a week (not including late night phone calls)and we go to ever distict event. The life of a DE is not easy but She loves it.

  8. I'm doing a Klondike derby in my district and I am do a natual fire building station(only flint, steel or friction)can the Webelos that are going to be there earn their fire chit with this or is there more to it.
  9. My Grandfather always told me "any job big or small do it right or not at all" and I have leared that if you focus on a job most times you can get it done right and get it done faster then expected. One plus you Scouting is you can always say NO if you can not meet the deadline although I can't seem to do that but it is an option.
