  1. I am in a troop in the urbanreach district of my council. That is why I probably will never see a UC we have enough time keeping enough adults active to keep the troop active. The neighborhood we are in is highly transient and that is also a factor. Now for the plus side we work much closer with the DE as we are his only active scout troop now. So you can say he acts like our UC.

  2. Their was questions about the leaders actions outside scouts involving a group of scous who were brothers. There was another adult there and the leader in question had supposedly slapped one of the boys. The other sadult had brought it to the troop committees atttention. We had decided that even if it had been in jest it was a violation of troop policy and asked him to resign. It hurt because he was and is my friend.

  3. Personally I believe that homosexuality is immoral and a abuse of the natural relationships God has created for us. Just because society says it is normal doesn't mean I have to conodne or expose kids to it. I believe the reason society has accepted it is the fact that the media has shown it to be normal and that everyone who takes a stand against it is a "Bigot"

  4. Personally as someone who works with former drug users i would call parents and notify police. The matter comes down a law was broken and it has to be handled accordingly. I have had friends who told me they got their pot from their parents and that their parents didn't care. If we as scout leaders wink at the law and don't report violations we are saying thats ok you believe pot to be harmless and that is ok for you.

  5. In the past I have been giving the responsbility of asking a leader to resign and I am afraid i didn't do it the "PC" way. I was asked by the COR to speak to the leader in question and ask him about an incident. The incident did happen and I was forced to ask him not to attend the meetings anymore. Since this brought the troop below the 2 required leaders the COR had to attend as a leader to keep the troop active. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do a confrontation and get it over with and not worry about Politically Correct but first you or the committee must investigate the reasoning behind it.

  6. The church I work for has taken this policy and applied it to all youth programs which is good and we are required to have one person on the troop committee who oversees the youth protection policy and makes sure it is followed from all points.

The person is responsible not to the troop committee but to the charter organization.

  7. My point on this is the youth protection guidelines broke down in this instance. I work for the organization my troop is chartered to as well as am a youth leader in other programs and the number one thing i practice is that I am not alone with any kids we are always two deep. Even if it is a outing having nothing whatsoever to do with scouts it is still two deep
