  1. Thanks for the reply Joe, there are some good things on there that I can use. Robin
  2. I am looking for ideas for a Cub Weekend. We are planning a theme of Red Indians. Can anyone tell me how to do smoke signals or write Indian messages? We are in Scotland and are expecting around 60 cubs to be staying indoors for the weekend.
  3. Hi Bill Try Scoutbase's online games book at http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/activity/games/idx/cubgames.htm I just counted 101 games for a small group.
  4. I had a bit of trouble with the slide show but that may be due to being in Scotland with an internet connection the speed of a snail with a broken leg
  5. Yes it is working! Looks a great site - do you have a web site for your cub pack?
  6. Still getting 'Connection timed out'
  7. Sorry to say that I can't get on your site either.
  8. The mother of one of my Cubs commented that the only dry bits of kit in her son's bag when he got home were his soap and flannel
  9. The traditional way for Cubs to keep their soap clean and dry is not to take it out of their ruck sacks until they get home.
  10. The rules you mention would apply to Beavers in Britain (6 & 7 year olds). We try to encourage Cubs to learn to look after themselves without their parents under supervision of leaders. We welcome parent helpers, but they are supposed to be there to help look after all the Cubs, not just their offspring.
  11. OldGreyEagle, is a ratio of 2 Scouts to 1 leader for camping compulsory for you?
  12. On the suggested lines you could do the first aiders carol, On the first day of camping a leader sent to me a small boy with a grazed knee. On the second day of camping a leader sent to me 2 sore stomachs and a small boy with a grazed knee Continuing with 3 broken arms, 4 sprained ankles, 5 bleeding noses etc. Get the kboys to invent the rest with suitably bandaged cubs coming on stage
  13. Our rule is a minimum of 3 adults so it usualy works out OK. I am impressed by the amount that you get parents involved in activities. We usualy have a few good parent helpers who turn uot for outings but everything else is done by leaders. At our weekly pack nights we usualy have 2 leaders and 36 kids.
  14. Why are do Webelos need to camp with their parents? Is this a child safety issue or a cunning leader recruitment plan? In the UK, 8,9 and 10 year old Cubs are able to camp with leaders (one leader per 6 Cubs plus one in overall charge) If we had to have parents with them, most of the boys wouldn't get to camp.

    Spring Roundup?

Thanks for the explaination. It sounds better than having them wait. We let kids join at any time during the year, but it makes badge work harder as they don't all join at once. Also boys come up to Cubs from Beavers when they turn 8 years old. We try to get them to come up in smal groups with their pals but it can be difficult. Do you run a program all year round? We don't do a lot during the school holidays ( but we are busy for the rest of the year)
