Long ago, I had the opportunity to serve an excellent Troop as SPL for two terms. It was a thrilling and humbling experience - and great preparation for life. I recently ran into an familiar adult leader at a training event. We were in the same Troop as kids and had not seen each other for 30 yrs! He was the Troop SPL before me (and a great one!) and had a huge affect on how I did my SPL job. Remember that many other Scouts have stood in your "SPL shoes" before you.
