dual registrations ?

At a council sponsored training activity this last weekend, I was informed that a youth may be simultaneously registered in a Sea Scout Ship, in a Venturing Crew, and in a Boy Scout Troop.

 

Moreover, we were told that because different Venturing Crews have different emphases, a youth may be dual registered in multiple Crews at the same time.

that is correct, as a scout I was registerd with my troop, my crew. and a second crew of former summer camp staff.

Yes, this is correct.

 

My son is registered in a Sea Scout ship and a pistol shooting crew.

 

I have another youth who is registered in the Ship, and the same shooting crew and his primary registration is with a Boy Scout Troop.

 

And they only pay one registration fee.

Most camps register their staff as a crew no matter what other unit they may hold a registration in. Many adults also wear more than one hat in more than one unit.

If a Boy Scout wishes to join my Venturing Crew, I EXPECT him to dual register with is Troop and my Crew. I also EXPECT him to continue working on Boy Scout rank and attain his Eagle. Thus far I have had 6 Scouts Eagle in my Crew. And yes, I have had 2 of these boys registered in a second Crew besides mine.

Of course they can dual register, why wouldnt they? if you have 100 boy scouts and 20 are also sea scouts and another 15 are in Venturing Crews and 15 more are in an Explorer Post the Council can claim 150 youth members.
