September 26, 200223 yr I have one of our parents that has registered as a merit badge counselor for first aid and is willing to do training and testing to our troop. Is there anyone that knows of a syllabus and possibly a test that would help him achieve his goal? Thanks.

September 26, 200223 yr Author I understand the merit badge requirements. I was interested in how to structure the time for such a program.
September 26, 200223 yr This may help the first timer get organized, the ultimate authority is the current book. In our troop it tends to take 3 meetings to get it done. (meetings with the scout, not troop meetings, of course) http://meritbadge.com/files/mb-docs/First%20Aid.doc
September 26, 200223 yr Merit badges are meant to be earned one scout at at time or in pairs. The testing must be done on an individual basis. As far as group instruction you need to go as fast as the slowest learner. So time is relative, depending on the needs of the learner not on the task. Bob White
September 27, 200223 yr Have a certified instructor come in and teach them cpr. Let them show initiative in scheduling with the counselor to finish the rest.
September 27, 200223 yr I saw a program that could help - look under advancement at ,www.insanescouter.com
September 27, 200223 yr As a merit badge counselor, I have always liked to give the scouts the worksheets found at www.usscouts.org (the first aid one is First Aid doc ). I tell them they do not have to fill the form out, but it would be helpful for THEM to do this so they know the material when I meet with them. Also, I let them know if they have problems with any area, call me and we can discuss it.(This message has been edited by Glenn)
September 27, 200223 yr Sorry, can't seem to get the previous post to look correct. Hopefully, you can find the first aid document's url in that mess.
