kittle 10
We are getting ready to work on the Geologist pin. I have figured out what I would like to do with the boys, but I have one problem. The last requirement says to find 2 examples of fossils in your area. I have no idea where to start looking.
ScoutNut 147
Contact your local Conservation district, nature center or DNR office. They should be able to help.

Torveaux 10
Are there any quarries or mines in your area? Layering is very cool when viewed on a large scale like that. Most quarries and mines run across some sort of fossils as they dig.
kittle 10
I hadn't thought about calling the DNR. The closest college that might have a Geology department is about 85 miles. No quarries in the area, but there is a mine. I will call them tommorrow and see if they can help. My only problem with the reguirement is that is says to find 2 examples of fossils in your area. I take that to mean that the boys are supposed to find the fossil, not just see them.
