Prayers needed for Camp Shennandoah

Stonewall Jackson Area Council Camp Shennandoah had a fire this morning that resulted in one fatality. The identity of the victim has not been released. So it is not known if it was a scout/scouter/ or responder.

 

Parents have been picking up Scouts today in reponse to todays incident.

 

Not much has been released. There are very few confirmed reports. But the news is trying to keep things current.

 

Please keep all those involved in your prayers. Especially the family of the victim, who ever it may be.

BUFFALO GAP, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police have confirmed that one person died in a fire at the Boy Scouts of America's Camp Shenandoah in Augusta County.

 

The News Leader of Staunton said a building that housed staff quarters at the camp near Buffalo Gap caught fire about 4 a.m. Friday.

 

Dozens of parents are on the site to pick up the Boy Scouts who were camping there.

 

The camp's Web site says a Webelos resident camp session started Wednesday.

 

Webelo is the fifth rank of Cub Scouting, the last one before boys become Boy Scouts.

How very sad.

My thoughts and prayers are for the young camp staffer, his family and friends.

Along with the Scouts in that area.

And prayers for the Webelos as well. Younger scouts can get very attached to counselors and see them as heros, older brothers etc. This will be a lot for them to handle at their age.
