ASM59 10 Posted July 10, 2006 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Like others, our boys have expressed interest in going somewhere other than the local Council camp next year for summer camp. We are located about 60 miles SSW of Chicago, IL and are looking for a camp within 250 miles for next year. Does anyone know of a camp with a great program for both younger and older Scouts (11-17 years old). Please, if you know of a camp that you'd recommend, let me know. EagleInKY 14 Posted July 10, 2006 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Not sure of the distance (about a 5 hour drive from Chicago), Camp Crooked Creek (LHC in KY) has some good programs for older scouts. I'm not a fan of their first year program. Nice facilities, beautiful camp, usually decent food, and it is one of the best bargains in Summer Camps. LongHaul 10 Posted July 10, 2006 Share Posted July 10, 2006 ASM59, Look at what Owasippe Scout Reservation has to offer. It is located in White Hall Michigan which is about 200 miles from Chicago. From the Adventure Patrol for the first year camper (scout or tenderfoot) to the outposts for the senior scouts that are looking for a day or two away from the troop, we offer a good program.
