Ohio_Scouter 10
Congratulations, JeffD. Sounds scrumptious! Pretty soon, you'll be a world-class outdoor chef.
LongHaul 10
JeffD I've found that the "lemon cake" tweak can make the difference in allot of receipts. I use lemon cake when I make pineapple upside down cake. Use the juice from the pineapple in the cake and add an extra egg for added fluffiness (and cholesterol ) another tweak is to use the small cinnamon breakfast rolls on top of apple , peach or cherry cobbler. The added white frosting puts the sugar rush into orbit. LH

JeffD 10
...and the wife wondered why i added charcoal to the thanksgiving shopping list...
infoscouter 11
Charcoal is a standard on our THanksgiving list - we cook the turkey on the grill, and now that I think abou it - it would be fun to do something in the DO at the same time! Hmmm, what could I think up in 6 hours?
anarchist 10
JeffD, another way to do the "top" is cut in a bit of shortening, some brown sugar and "mashed" nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds) into your cake mix -then sprinkle over fruit as before...yum... a fine and safe Thanksgiving
