  2. liner socks---hiking socks====prevent blisters!!! Jock itch is a problem too. Sun protection
  3. Whe I stepped down as SM I joined the District Committee and am presently District Chairman. It's great because to help the units in the whole district with program, activities, membership, training, and funding. you hve a great crew if district volunteers to work with it's a great time.
  4. ASM cannot be a CC or serve on the TC. A married SM/ASM cannot be the two deep leadership on a camp overnight outing or on any outing...youth protection.
  5. Definition for Politics: abuse power.....Good Luck!!!
  6. I never said anything about firing the CC. The CC was being arrogant and doing thing on his own without consulting with anyone....when it would directy affect his scout!! He was not appointed by the CO... Also, there were ASM's on the TC telling the SM what to do!!!! Te UC or COR could not find anything wrong with it....a SM was not needed in the Troop..........................
  7. Been here before with the CC..... went to the UC and the COR and the President of the CO and they were worthless......I was a puppet on a string. The TC is suppose to support the Scouts and the SM. Not supporting the SM is undermining the whole Troop program. Who spends all their vounteer time with the Scouts....the SM!!! The SM should have the last say in the program. The SM knows what the Scouts want...a fun program!!!!
  8. I have a new Eagle Scout in the troop and he is very close to being 18 years old. He has stated he does not plan to have a Eagle Court of Honor. Has anyone ever had this situation before? What is a SM to do?
  9. Thank you everyone for your input. I am meeting with the DE tommorrow to see what is expected of my duty as chairman. To be able to chat with experienced scouters in this forum is priceless!!!!!
  10. I'm a new District Chairman. What are the most critical District Committee roles?
  11. I will ask our DE and SE their opinion. The replies I've been geting don't seem to make much sense.
  12. Has anyone tried color safe bleach, soaking it overnight?
  13. YOUTH MEMBER EXCEPTION: WHEN TRAVELING TO AND FROM AN AREA, REGIONAL, OR NATIONAL BOY SCOUT ACITIVTY OR ANY VENTURING EVENT UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF AN ADULT(AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE) TOUR LEADER, A YOUTH MEMBER AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE MAY BE A DRIVER, SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: -SIX MONTHS' DRIVING EXPERIENCE AS A LICIENCED DRIVER ( LEARNER'S PERMIT TIME DOES NOT COUNT AS EXPERIENCE). -NO RECORD OF ACCIDENTS OR MOVING VIOLATIONS -PARENTAL PERMISSION GRANTED TO THE LEADER, DRIVER, AND RIDERS. 14. THE PART IN QUESTION OF THE SAFE GUIDE TO SCOUTING: TROOP VERSION: IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE OFFICIAL BSA TRANSPORTATION POLICY (REFERENCE: TOURS AND EXPEDITIONS, NO 33737) THE TROOP COMMITTEE HAS UNAMIOUSLY APPROVED OUR TROOP POLICY FOR YOUTH DRIVERS. A YOUTH DRIVER IS ANY LEGALLY LICIENCE DRIVER UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS OLD. IT IS THE POLICY OF THE TROOP WHEN TRAVELING TO AND FROM AN OFFICIAL TROOP, AREA, REGIONAL, OR NATIONAL ACTIVITY THAT: - THAT THE TROOP WILL ENSURE SUFFICIENT TRANSPORTATIION, IN ACCORDANCE WITH BSA POLICIES WILL BE AVAILABLE SUCH THAT ALL SCOUTS MAY PARTISI
  15. Is it legal to take BSA rules from the Guide to Safe Scouting and change the rules to what you want the troop to have and then have the Scout and parent sign the agreement? Who does the liability fall on then if it is not written verbatim? They also use the reference number of the publication from BSA on the agreement. If it is BSA policy, you don't have to sign any agreement to the rules, the Scout can have disiplinary action taken if he knows he has violated the Guide to Save Scouting rules, being warned by the adult leadership.
  16. I am confused how it was suppose to work. You fill out a form to set your goals (where does that form go?) and then you fill another form to see if your goals were met? I might have this all wrong. Has anyone ever completed the process? Please help.
  17. Don't forget the National Jamboree and the 5 for 5 National Jamboree rocker Leader Award (I have both from the 2005 National Jamboree).
  18. I am going to speak to the Advancement Committee Chair to let him know I feel that their are concerns about confidentially with some people on the EBOR. These concerns may not be true but what that has been said to me in the last outside conversation before the last EBOR I did makes me suspicious.
  19. Can an Assistant Scoutmaster sit on an EBOR?
  20. Has anyone ever had a question answered when posting here? Does it just lead to more questions? Remember, the program is for the Scouts, not the adults.
  21. I forgot to mention our UC has no clue what his roll is and also I will talk to our District Commissioner.....get everyone involved.......shake some trees!!!!
  22. OK, I will talk to the District Advancement Chair, District Executive and Council Executive to resolove this matter. The COR doesn't know what he is doing and the CO has not a clue what is going on.
  23. I guess I will call the District Advancement Committee Chair and tell him about the situation and get his direction on the matter. I don't know who to believe anymore..................
  24. As a SM, I have had two Eagle Scouts and at their ECOH's I was never thanked but a lot of other people were. One Eagle Scout did not even send me a thank you card for the personalized gift I gave him. I can see why the Scout never contacted you about his EBOR even after all the weekends, evenings, vacation days and money from your own pocket to help him reach where he is today.
  25. I know the SM does not sit on the EBOR. But I, the SM do get interviewed by the EBOR and I cannot speak on what I want to say because I think words have come back to the Troop in the past. The last EBOR I did had the District Eagle Board(2 people), our COR and a CO member what was the Eagle candidate's neighbor. Is that fair?
