  1. We had a similar situation, but not for the Treasurer position. It is for the Advancement Chair position. This lady's son became an Eagle and he moved on to military service. However she only comes to the troop meeting when we have a Board of Review. She also felt that she is the only person capable of doing the job since she had a very long experience with the troop. She was also the COR of the troop. Unfortunately, the pastor booted her out and assigned another church member. The Committee Chair slowly took the documents from her and transferred them to me. Of course there was a l
  2. Yes of course. Scouts and/or leaders should not be subjected to it.
  3. Currently working in the capacity of Accounting Manager, in charge of payables, human resource and financial statements for a nationwide family owned corporation. Manufacturer of precious metals. Prior to this job, was working as Accounting Manager for a 10 chain retail store, training and supervising the data processing staff. First job was an Auditing Examiner for the Commission on Audit, assigned to the Ministry of Education in the Philippines.
  4. Our troop meets every Monday unless there is a holiday like Memorial Day or Labor that falls on a Monday. In the summer we have regular meetings, scouts wear our Class B shirt and scout shorts (with scout's socks) or scout long pants. During the month of December we have 2 Mondays off and when we come back our meeting is usually held at the Lazertag. That is our treat for the scouts. Our PLC meeting is always the 3rd Wednesday of the month, the scouts decide on what program they will be accomplishing the following month. However our Venture crew meets once a month (2nd Wednesday) a

  6. For regular activities, like backpacking trip, river rafting etc. our adult leaders pay for their share of the trip however sometimes we are reimbursed for gas. For summer camps since this is a week long activity, the troop normally shoulders the cost. When we prepare the budget for the summer camp, the cost of the additional adult going to camp is figured into the budget. The budget includes the cost of the camp program, patches and other incidentals and allocation for additional leaders to attend the summer camp. The logic behind this cost allocation - the leader takes a vacation to hel
  7. Hi I'm practically new to this site. I am currently an Assistant Scoutmaster, but serving in the capacity of Advancement Chair. My troop is located in Reseda, CA and we are chartered by the United Methodist Church. I have been involved in scounting since my son was a Tiger Cub. I have gone through Wood Badge training (Beaver Patrol) and sealed by OA brotherhood last year. I have been a Pack Treasurer and a Patrol Adviser. My main interest is scout advancement, religious emblems and cultural diversity. I know that I will learn a lot from this site.
