As a dad of triplets, super twins, multiple mania....I'm over qualified to handle 5 boys with a parent in tow!!!
-
Wasn't counting the adults. That is a crowd isn't it? 5 Tigers sounds too easy. LOL

Well, I spent the rent at the Scout Store for my two new identicle Tigers and the neighbor boy, their classmate.
I picked the kids up from the sitter after work, and when I pulled the new blue shirts out of the bag, they were excited to almost being giddy. The only time I've seen them this stoked was when the wooden Springfield Rifles with the operating bolt actions came in the mail!!!
I think what I'm going to do is send my two Tigers to school on roundup tuesday in uniform and let them pass out fliers. I also told them they can wear their uniforms to school on Tiger Thursdays. Let's see how long that lasts.
Does anyone have an example of a Cub Roundup flier I can modify and use?

Being a brand spanking new Tiger Den Leader, I'm expecting 8-10 1st graders, but I'm also expecting 4-5 parents to stay and participate. What is you experience with parents who can't or won't stay as the adult partner? I already know what I'm going to do, but I'd like to hear your opinions and experiences.

I'm saving my pennies so to one day contribute to a James West Fellowship. I just haven't decided whether to donate to the council I serve presently or the one in which I had so much fun being in as a kid for eight years.
Having experienced several parents moan and complain about charging $15 for a camporee or paying $31 for a Scout shirt for their son (less than the carton of Marlboros they buy weekly), I sort of have a feel for folks who would be critical of the endowment concept.
BUT, a person doesn't have to put the full $1000 in. Donate what you can. If all the adult leaders in BSA donated to the West Fellowship leading to an explosion in endowment funds, the Scouting Program could run on earned interest. Battle over. Interest income. The flamers and godless heathens would have to find another target for their ire, cause we wouldn't have to worry about whether we met United Way's new resolutions, cause we're fully funded.
Put the knot in a drawer if you wish to, but save the money or write the checks.

Big Foot Beach State Park, $40 bucks for the campsight and then $10 a night per vehicle, we had two Jeeps. $80. Uugh
-
Yes you did. Thank you again. $5 a head for our small band of Sea Scouts won't break us, especially after what the Peoples Republic of Wisconsin charges per night for each vehicle to camp at their state parks. Whheeeeeeesh.

How far is the York-Adams Council camp away? Could we camp there?
-
I agree with my favorite Uncle, but let me add that Sea Scouting is a program under the Venturing umbrella which serves the same co-ed 14-21 aged youth. Sea Scouts can work on both the Sea Scout advancement program and everything that Venturing offers. Keep the programs separate. Scoutmasters who also serve as Advisors, just can't possible put enough into both programs as they deserve and need, maybe Superman could, but most of us couldn't.
