  1. When I made the list of pages for the left hand side of the Home page I named one of them Secure Area. The company that hosts our site set up the password-user name part of that page. Now when I add anything to the secure area I just make sure I save the new page to the secure area file. Then everyone has to go through the password stuff to get to it. This is our host: http://www.scoutwebservices.com/ They understand Scouting and are very helpful. Does that answer your question?
  2. I made our troop website 2 years ago and we all don't know how we ever lived without it! Anything with a name goes on the Secure side and all the parents get the password at any meeting. This is where all the photos go, too. This is our host: http://www.scoutwebservices.com/ They are great! Easy to use and very helpful. And cheap. check us out at www.troop5bsa.org
  3. For the past 2 years we have paid for gas for the drivers. They are reimbursed at a set rate/mile and check is written to them from the Troop. She then deducts from each attending scout's camp account (uses a computer program that meshes with Troopmaster) and shoots me a Report form that I pos
  4. Summer camp? I would ask if this is the only campout she goes on with the Scouts. Has she learned to keep her cool with very little sleep? We have found that when the Scouts only know the leader from regular meetings they haven't met the "real person" sometimes. Sleep deprived, hot, hungry adults sometimes have very short fuses. Not every leader does well on long term camps.
  5. Too cool. My oldest son is an Eagle who is currently serving in the Army in Korea. While training in Texas the different groups of young soldiers were given topographic maps, loaded into helicopters and taken to the top of hill in the middle of nowhere and told to navigate to the "dot on your map". Son lead his group to the "dot" location, arriving 4 hours ahead of any other group. Called his dad, the Scoutmaster, that night and thanked him for using EVERY January campout to teach/practice Orienteering skills. Son said he grumbled at the time but was thanking his stars he knew what to do.
