  1. Best one I saw was an eagle head with wings stretched out wide. The leader took the boys from wolf through 2nd year webelos, and choose the eagle so they would know what they were aiming for. When they transitioned he cut the wings into pieces and gave each boy a wooden feather. I thought it was pretty cool.
  2. Whoops, Troop CC, not CM! Also, we do have one speaker that's about 10 minutes. We've had a new Eagle scout, a TV news person that's into scouting, etc. Stay away from a politician. Doesn't matter how big they are into scouting, people from the opposite party will view it as a political commercial for the politician and may stay away. (This came up in our district about 4 years ago.)
  3. We have ours in March so we don't conflict with Blue and Golds. We have drawings for donated prizes, but the real focus of our District Dinner is the District awards. The TL, DL, WDL, CM, Pack CC, SM, ASM and Troop CM leaders of the year are awarded, along with Pack and Troop Jockey awards for the person in the unit that helps the pack/troop to move along. These people receiving the awards are all nominated by people in their units. We also award the District Award of Merit, and some of the other district awards. Ours is held on a Friday night.

  6. Yep, that's how we're set up. The district Day Camp Chairs meet with a professional and now, me, and we decide the theme, the registration form layout, the camp fee per boy, the patch design, t-shirt colors, cup colors, 4 game stations and 4 craft stations that the council will cover. We also decide other administrative or program issues. The fees for all of this are taken out of a per boy fee that the council charges. It's a council day camp, but it's run individually on each district. It has the advantages of being run in or close by the boys neighborhood, and since the council only prov
