  1. Are you close to an REI store? They have a lot of good classes for outdoor skills.
  2. The leader with the wolf hat specifically has green numerals in the uniform guide. http://www.scoutstuff.org/BSASupply/images/pdfs/2008UniformGuide.pdf

    Velcro

Yeah, you will have to probably make it out of strips, I got some 2 inch strips. Make sure that the velcro circle you put on the shirt is smaller than the patch so that the patch hides the velcro better. It works great for me.
  4. My main question for it was that it is sponsored by the council here (class is at the council service center) and it being a requirement for Philmont treks. http://old.scouting.org/philmont/2008firstaidrequirements.pdf I was wondering if it was standard patch or not. Apparently it is not or is not yet.
  5. Camp Frank Rand/Gorham Scout Ranch after a 1 million dollar grant(Formerly Chimayo Scout ranch) just north of Santa Fe, NM. is great. Very good food (for camp food). Great staff with flexible scheduling. Real climbing rocks. Platform tents are only a few years old used from Philmont and very good condition. High adventure program. The camp is already great, with the grant, they are going to build adirondacks (3 sided shelters with bunks), put in a lake. There seem to always be troops that return from Texas every year. 25 meter pool that goes to 10 feet deep. They want to upgrade it to
  6. I have seen different people wearing a red and white "wilderness first aid" strip in various locations on their uniform. Is there a particular place to put it? Is this particular to our council or is it general patch that different people wear? It almost appears that it could go above the right pocket like an interpreter strip. Anybody know what I am talking about?(This message has been edited by gaucho)
  7. Around our scout shop, there was a cardboard backed picture of the left shoulder specifically showing off the new sleeve pocket with the trained patch on the pocket flap. Also, I saw they still have red numbers there, but only green trained patches. The green trained patch also looked quite a bit smaller than the red ones were.(This message has been edited by gaucho)
  8. Our DE mentioned that they will be replacing the flags with the regular patch and that there has already been problems. Just like with most new things, I will be waiting until the second revision.
  9. Yes, they only wear the VENTURE strip, use the red shoulder loops and are called a Venture Patrol led by a patrol leader. If you have enough boys and or want to incorporate girls (if the chartered organization allows), you may want to consider chartering a Venturing Crew, where they can keep working towards eagle (if they are already 1st class) and also work towards the Silver award and Ranger award. They can elect to wear the green venturing uniform or anything else if they choose. Just not a regular scout uniform with the green tabs, because that is incorrect uniforming.
  10. Is there any rumors about changes to the venturing and cub scout uniforms?
  11. The Game of Life was it for me. Enough said. My patrol either won it or didn't however you want to look at it. Changed me in a good way.
  12. I saw that they fixed the opening flash presentation on the website so that the uniform isn't "reversed."
  13. What about the loops? I assume that with the mix and matchability, that the old shirts will also use the green loops and unit numbers?
