  1. First I think that this ban on water guns is a little extreme, but as BB RO I wasn't allowed to put up pictures of any living thing.

Second to the question of gun and firearm being synonymous, if you are in a banquet hall and a stranger comes in and someone yells "he has a gun" do you duck and cover or ask if it is a firearm or some other type of gun.

  2. In the original thread, the G2SS is used to explain why you can no longer do Patrol camping. My question is if ScoutBox is in Switzerland does G2SS apply or is G2SS a BSA document. Does the World Scouting Organization follow G2SS. I truly don't know but am asking.

  3. Glad to have met you and to have seen your fun side and your commitment to Venturing and Scouting. Being a local kind of Scouter it was great to see people from Boston to West Virginia coming together for training.

Don't see how you could have gained weight with all the walking and the Low-fat? and healthy meals?

Hope to see you in the future at training or a Rendezvous.

  4. I was also on staff. In kitchen and Equip Quartermaster. Walt did a great job. I couldn't believe the number of consultants that were backups or backup backups, because of last minute cancellations or no-shows. By the skits the Crews put on, I think everyone had fun and learned somethings.

  5. If you are going to ask, the three questions you should ask are

    1. Did he attend a resident or long term camp since he has come back to the Troop?

    2. Does he have the rest of the 15 days/nights in overnight, weekend or other short-term camps since he has come back to the Troop?

3.And were the days/nights all in before the election?

But,as nldscout said one election per year.(This message has been edited by EagleWB)

  6. Eaglescout2004, it was made with flour, whole wheat flour, powdered milk, bran cereal, raisins, sugar and yeast(from memory). It was rolled out into logs about an inch in diameter then cut into lenghts of about 1-2 inches long then baked. I'm not sure whether this came from Ordeals way back when of our lodge or National. I do know our Arrowmen look forward to it at our Ordeals. I will let you know what I come up with.

  7. For any Food Committee people out there. I lost my recipe for ordeal bread. Do any of you make ordeal bread for your Ordeals and can you give me the recipe or point me in the right direction to find it?

    Thank You

  8. On the last course I was on staff, most of the tickets were approved by the guides by the last day of the course. Some were approved at the Patrol meetings, some on the last day of the course. The final say should come from your Permanent Coach Counselor, who you should contact within 2 weeks of the end of your course. Unless you went out of council you should know who that is before the end of the course. If you went out of Council and didn't get a name, call your Council WB Coordinator.

  9. K9, I couldn't do that because a uniform is not required, but I believe an Eagle candidate should know the importance of having a uniform and could not sit this board.

dan, Just about everyone here says you can't require a uniform, so I'm not sure how you can say the adults don't have strong leadership skills. I take it you would sit on this board the same as any other.

Ed, I wouldn't vote no, I wouldn't sit on this board. I take it you would sit on this board same as any other.

  10. I have been following the other discussion and I know a uniform isn't required. How would you handle an Eagle BOR if the Scout showed up with no uniform? I would probably excuse myself from the Board and let it contine without me, because I wouldn't want to add to the requirements, but I couldn't sit and pass a scout for Eagle with no uniform. Maybe it's a good thing I don't sit on the Eaagle BOR's for our Council.

  11. If you have or someone you know has pictures, you could make a slide show and run it during your B&G dinner or a pack meeting. Make up a camp display of other pictures and any crafts or mementos from camp. Have the Cubs that went to camp talk about what they did. Maybe you could get a staff member, that the boys really connected with, come in and talk about camp.

  12. Eamonn,

Talk to him so that you will not feel guilty. Explain how close he is and how much it might make a difference in the future, but it is his decision. At times I have felt like I have done more for other peoples sons than my own. My youngest will be 18 soon and is still First Class, but he is Vigil, a committee chairman, staffed 2 weeklong JLTs, been to Sea Base, hiked 100 miles of the AT, etc and has served as summer camp staff 3 yrs, as well as day camp and Cub wkends. He stayed with the program and has grown. Would I have liked to have seen him become Eagle? Yes but it is more important to me that he has stayed with the program and has grown with it. Advancement was never something he was concerned with. I talked to him several times but always left it up to him.

Sounds like OJ is a GREAT Scout and will probably come around. Just have a talk with him, like a Scoutmaster conference, and see what his thoughts are.
