Scout gains new insight from NYLT

Recommended Posts

WOw it's things like that that'll keep you going.

They would let my first class 13 1/2 year old attend NYLT.

You must be 14.

Some 18 year olds act 9.

Some 13 year old are Eagles.

A hard and fast number is a stupid thing. They don't know the boy.

Would his SM approve of him at NYLT, that shold be a factor.

The boy has been a DC for 14 months.

What grades does he get in school. Is he mature? What kind of camper is he?

Wants to be a PL this year and would have benefitted greatly from the traing now he will not have it.

If I could have only gotten his mom preggers 6 months earlier?!>!?!>!?!

Picked up number one son from NYLT this evening. Overall he said it was great and wants to recruit other scouts from the unit to take it next year. He also said he'd like to staff next year.

But on a funny side note, as I waited at the medic hut to pick up his meds, I overheard another scout waiting with his parents talk about the week. He told his dad, "man, they made us cook all our own meals. It's not like our troop. We had a duty roster and had to do different stuff at each meal". It took all my composure not to comment.

Gern, thanks for the laugh. I delivered my son and two other staffers to camp Friday evening so they can get set up for our course beginning today. I can't wait till next Saturday when he gets home to hear all about it.
