This was the intent of William Hillcourt's First Method of Scouting, "The Scout Way (A Game, NOT a Science)." This, perhaps the most important Method of Scouting, was eliminated in 1972 (along with the Uniform), when the "Seven Methods of Scouting" were first introduced: 1) Scouting Ideals; 2) Patrols; 3) Advancement; 4) Adult Male Association; 5) Outdoor Program; 6) Leadership Development; 7) Personal Growth. If the BSA could change its mind and reinstate the Uniform as a Method, then why not The Scout Way?
