  1. I know this isn't a popular opinion but I think it would be great if they did go co-ed. Last year then I finally brought scouting back to our community I was in a tough spot trying to serve as many kids I can in an underserved location. it is a little disheartening to know that no matter how hard my campfire kids work and what they know won't matter to most organizations when they go to apply for college or jobs because no one knows what a wohelo award is, but everyone knows what an eagle is. 2. I run a campfire group so no BSA restrictions here but what we do for our big fundraiser is a rifle giveaway. We pay for aHenry lever action and have it shipped to a local FFL that will do a transfer for us free of charge. We sell tickets for a few weeks and then draw a name. We restricted it to 10 tickets per kid last year but may raise that to 15 tickets each @$20. Last year we cleared right at $2000. But we are still a young group so our costs aren't very high yet. That will allow us to pay for every kids campout she this year (parents will still have to pay) and some much needed equipmen
  3. I have been a stalker of this forum for over a year and am finally deciding to sign up. I am an old Eagle Scout that grew up and decided that I needed to do for kids what someone once did for me. Our small town no longer had any scouting programs as before the Boy Scout and Girl Scout chapters closed years ago. To solve this and provide scouting for everyone I teamed up with Camp Fire about a year and a half ago and got a club going. I'm kinda the odd ball in that group because we run much like the BSA of my day but use the Camp Fire curriculum.
