  4. I am a Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner and a need some help looking the Boy Scout roundtable guide or program help. I went to scoutstuff.org and they only the Venturing Roundtable Guide or the Cub Scout Roundtable Guide.

Does any one know where I can get a copy of the Boy Scout Roundtable Guide or Program help.

  5. Well, I have been a Boy Scout Commissioner for three years and Roundtable Staff before that.

Communcations: Email everyone, If you can not email everyone - call the Scoutmaster and the Committee Chairman. Also send try to send them postcards.

Location: Have it the same location and time. 3rd week of the month at the College.

Program: Develop a program and promote it. Tell the leaders that everything is also subject to change. Things happen. Bring in guest speakers and have each unit run the program at the roundtable. If you need ideas for the roundtable try looking at Old issues of boys Life and Scouter Magazine. Also have a backup program for the roundtable.

    Last Thing: Have Fun.

  6. John Glen is not an Eagle Scout.

Senator Glenn not an Eagle Scout

In Scouting magazine's March-April 2002 article about activities for Space Day, the caption with the photograph showing Senator John Glenn and a group of Boy Scouts refers to "Senator John Glenn, an Eagle Scout." As a result of my effort to verify this, I received the following e-mail from Senator Glenn's office at Ohio State University:

"...Senator Glenn was not an Eagle Scout. When he was a boy, New Concord, Ohio, did not have a Scout troop, [but] Senator Glenn and his pals organized themselves into something like the Scouts...[sincerely], Mary Jane Veno."

    Terry Calderwood

    Chesterfield, Mo.

Thank you for the correction. In composing the caption, Scouting magazine confused John Glenn, the first American astronaut to orbit the earth, with Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon, who is an Eagle Scout.
