  1. One of the fund raisers that our troop does in the summer is sell sno cones at our local community day. After the parade at which the boys and a couple of adults carry the US and troop flags, we go to the park and sell sno cones. They also had a dunk tank where some of the troop leaders and a couple of teachers from the high school got dunked in the water. The boys did their part in the dunk tank area by handing out the baseballs and chasing after them when those people that cannot throw missed the target. These 2 fundraisers brought in over $1000 which isn't bad for a community of about 1000.
  2. I was not looking for ideas to put on MY ticket. I was just wondering what some other people had done for theirs. It does seem that no one wants to share. Why is it that you don't want to tell? I had a friend take the course in '99. She finished in '01 and I know she had a blast. I also know some of the people that will be staffing the course. But again, what is the big secret.I know my ticket will be mine alone, and entail what I want to achieve.I want to learn what other scouters did.
  3. this year and am real excited about it. I am kind of curious about what other scouters that have attended wood badge have done on their ticket. I have been trying to think up some things for me, but would like some ideas. I am not sure what is expected for it.
  4. my area CSP or patches? I am from Inland Northwest Council.
  5. at a troop meeting that you were not aware of even though you were there, that you should be told right away? This happened to me,my son made a mistake at a meeting, but I was not informed at the time. I was told about it days later at a parents meeting in front of all the parents that were there. I felt that the ASM should have told me when my son did it, rather than in front of the other adults.
  6. pack do during the year? The troop that my son belongs to has at least 5 or 6. When some of the other units were told this they were shocked. We like the boys to raise most of the money for their monthly campouts and the different activities that they do over the course of each year. It also eases the burden on the parents, as part of this money helps pay for summer camp.
  7. fell that they are more appreciated?. I enjoy being a UC, on Round Table Staff and being on the district training staff so much more than at the troop/pack level. The district people give me a feeling that I am a good person. When I attend the parent meetings at my units, I feel that I am the worst person in the unit. The SM, and ASM are IMHO the worst people, they do not understand the boys different personalities, and they treat most of the adults like they are brainless and could not come up with a good idea if it slapped them in the face.SM and ASM(his wife)think that they are the only ones
  8. The counselor did this merit badge at a few troop meetings. My son missed part of the discussion one night, but he finished the requirements at a later time.He did a work sheet that I had gotten off the merit badge website. It was turned into the counselor, but she would not accept just that. He worked for 3 hours to finish this. I would think that it would be proof that he had done what he was supposed to do.
  9. My son is 12. He joined cubs as a wolf.He has been a member of the troop since April 2002.He really likes scouting, but just has a hard time talking to new people. It took him awhile to get used to the new adults that are a part of the troop.
  10. your son is kind of shy and will not contact merit badge counselors? My son has finished the requirements for a merit badge, but he is shy and won't contact the counselor to get his blue card signed off.
