  1. The course I took was the weekend one. The first session was over Memorial weekend, and the second was a Sat., Sun., and Mon. in June. That way most people only had to take 1 day off from work.
  2. I tried to fill in my profile. Every time I filled it out and went to submit it I would get an error message.
  3. If any of you sent me an email about trading in the last month or so, could you please resend it. I had some problems and lost some of my emails.
  4. for the Eagle palms the order is bronze, gold and then silver? Usually gold is the top of the list.
  5. I finished one of my tickets items last week. It was volunteering to help at cub day camp.I am also going to make a photo album promoting WB.
  6. Had a blast. It was so informative and a lot of what I was taught will be very useful, not only in scouting, but in other aspects of my life. My ticket wasn't as hard to do as I thought it would be. We had a beading ceremony for 3 of last years participants. Was really cool. The staff was fantastic. All in all, a eonderful experience. I highly reccomend to anyone that has not taken this training yet. I used to be a fox.........
  7. what a patch is worth? A friend told me that one of the patches that I have is worth a lot of money. I would like to see if it is true.
  8. I have some extra patches I would like to trade. There is a variety of them. We can do a blank trade where we just specify an amount to trade, and be surprised at what we get. If interested, let me know.
  9. of Woodbadge is over. I had a really great time. Met a lot of wonderful scouters, both as trainers and trainees. I look forward to session 2. I used to be a fox.........................
  10. Why only one year? If you are good at your position then why have a term limit. The "old" commisioner maybe could help teach at Commissioners College, or do other Commissioner trainings.I am a commissioner(was volunteered). Granted haven't been one long, but I would hate to have some one tell me 10 years from now that I have outlived my usefulness. I am hoping that I will continue to be a help to both district and the units I help.
  11. merit badges are offered at the camp that your unit will be attending? The one our troop is going to offers 34, 5 of which are Eagle requirements.
  12. Congratulations. I will be attending Wood Badge next month. I look forward to it.
  13. help pay for the boys to go to camp?or on a 50 miler?
  14. I have searched every site that I can find, and have not found the form you are looking for.Did you call your local scout office and see if they have some or find out what the official name of the form is?
  15. I have a question regarding the chat. Why is it just Tuesday nights? I like to chat about scouting at other times too.
  16. Mom and dad will be taking turns being at camp. It is only during the day when activities are going on that a second interpreter is needed.
  17. These 2 boys cannot talk. They communicate only with sign language. They can make noises, but only to the extent that they can get your attention.I did learn that the older boy does not read or write too well. He is 14. I thought that he was able to until the other night at our scout meeting. As far as the question about the interpreter being alone with the child, that would not be the case. This person would go with the boy and other boys that will be doing the same merit badge or advancement. We do not have a huge camp, so there are only a certain number of things offered at one time. The pr
  18. I am not sure if this post should be under this forum or if I should have posted under Issues, but here goes. Our troop has 2 deaf boys. The council has said that they will not provide sign language interpreters for summer camp. These 2 boys are in the same family. The parents are going to take turns being there, but each boy will be doing different things at camp. There will also be some times when neither parent will be there due to work schedules. My question is should the Boy Scouts provide the interpreter for these special needs boys?Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  19. I would think the amount of time it takes would depend on what you have on your ticket. Some items might be finished fairly quickly, but others would take longer. BTW, it is not Mr., but Mrs.
  20. The boys get to do a lot of scout and fun stuff. The money they have earned by doing all the fund raisers pays for laser tag, skiing and a hockey game in Feb.,a jet boat ride in March, 1/2 of summer camp, swimming at the pool at one of the local universities twice a year, a pizza party and numerous other activities throughout the year. The boys (or most of them) realize that the reason they get to do all of this is because they work hard to earn the money. It eases the financial burden for the families. The troop does all this along with a campout once a month, so the boys do get to do lots of
  21. Thank you to everyone that has replied to my post. I believe that taking the woodbadge course is going to be one of the best trainings that I will get as a scouter. I just love the scouting program. I will probably be a scouter long after my son has left home.
