  1. Well, the middle of the year and the Program is running smoothly, now we have a new Wolf.....

Currently, we have two Dens of 11 and 8 respectively, and now a new boy is to come in.

Besides all the Den dynamic stuff that we could talk about I was wondering what size you all would think to be "overfull" and on top of that how to get a boy through rank by the end of Program year, June.

I think that is enough to chew on for now.

  2. Ok, now with all sorts of training going on line these days, (concerns on that could be another topic), I am getting really confused as to WHICH site to go to!!!

Can someone explain the difference between the BSA MyScouting E-Learning site and the OLC e-learning site?

Why can't they be combined and that way you have a one-stop shop.

  3. from the following link:

    http://www.scouting.org/HealthandSafety/GSS/GSSOffline.aspx

"Pointing any type of firearm (including paintball or dye) at any individual is unauthorized. However, law enforcement departments and agencies using firearms in standard officer/agent training may use their training agenda when accompanied with appropriate safety equipment in the Law Enforcement Exploring program."

than from the "online version at

"Pointing any type of firearm (including paintball, dye, or lasers) at any individual is unauthorized. However, law enforcement departments and agencies using firearms in standard officer/agent training may use their training agenda when accompanied with appropriate safety equipment in the Law Enforcement Venturing program. "

does one hand know what the other hand is doing. Talk about promoting confusion and not clarity

So in the absence of definitiveness (sniglet at its best)i guess it is up to the Pack to decide if it wants its boys to play cowboys and indians with ray of light instead of non firing, plastic, quality looking, TOY guns that Grandpa gave them for christmas.

Though I agree that laser tag and paintball are fun, i also agree that it should be age-based and allowed.

  4. I just looked this over this am and have noticed one thing that is troubling.

Looking over the Wolf Den meetings i double checke dthe 08-09 Program Helps and the two do not match up.

I am wondering if this is suppose to be this way or is this actually a lack of coordination between the two tools?

    any thoughts?

  7. I have a question, having been through the "poorest" customer service in the world with this organization, there has been talk around several of the boards that people should go out and produce their own Patches. Has anyone done this or are we all just chaulking this up to a lesson learned and once we do receive the awards we forget about it? I know for myself i havnt bothered to go look to design a new patch but I will not ever recommend or use this company again for their award... it is a shame cause the boys really did like the medal they FINALLY received after 3 months of waiting. They liked it so much that some continue to wear their medal 5 months later.

  8. I had a question about the difference between the Service Stars and the Attndence Bars.

I presume that the Service Stars are for "years" of service and the Attendence bars are for the number of years you have 100% attendence?

    Please correect if incorrect.

  9. I was looking on the National BSA website and they mention something called Unit Leadership Enhancements, now these are "little" classes that Pack Trainers can give to adults at say the committee meetings and such. I was wondering, has anyone ever done one of these and if so where did you get your syllibus from? The web site has no links to these as they do for other training classes.

  10. jpuckett,

get intouch with NCAC (National Capital Area Council) they have a listing of Council approved camping sites within the DC Metro area. This should help. as for the cost of campong to staying at a hotel you are correct it will be more expensive!

The bases in the area, save Andrews AFB or maybe even Pax River NAS (but way too far out of town), really dont have camping on post.

  11. Allscout.,

I had the same issue i ordered our patches and medals back in Dec and received them just recently, all in all it took some 3 months to get these awards deliverd.

Poor customer service is what i am calling it and will not go though the gold medal requirements with my guys as i dont want to put up with that type of service.

gald you received them and have your boys wear them proudly!!!!
