  1. I'm reading through the topics and spotted how to promote without disparing another-- This struck home -- for the last eight years our troop works closely with our feeder pack--den cheif, pinewood, skit night campouts etc. Three years ago the webelos went to another troop -- so last year I called the WL and asked why? he told me that the troop SM will be taking the 11yr old webelos to sea base that year and that our troop was to small (something about critical mass )bunk-- high adventure for sea base requires min.14yr olds-- anyway that lie caught up to them, no sea base, 4hrs troop meetings a

  3. I get to do the May round table for my district next month. The theme needs to deal with outdoor cooking. My troop has several differant items that we use to show the scouts how to cook in, (box oven, solar oven, mini can stove out of pop cans and foil cooking). Why would you go to the RT what would you espect to go back to the troop with ????
  4. Troop size is now 18 due to transfers and webelos trans. -- 1 SM, 4ASM, 4 commitee members help fund raisers etc. 2 patrols, 2 aspls , 1 sp, 2 eagle scouts that work with the younger scouts, every adut is yp , leadership ,faststart trained. Others have woodbadgers, also we have a unit and RT commissioners in the troop. We retain about 90 % to get eagle.
  5. After reading all of the remarks, you get a good range of info. Here is my two cents worth -- work closly with the pack, with den cheifs, pinewood berby help, scouting for food, scout night, camping activites( pack overnight and webelos 1&2 over nights)and the blue and gold dinner/ transsion with the OA team. The cubscouts see the boy scouts in action and they get to interact with them...A good written first year program(tenderfoot to 1st class) really helps. This year my troop got 13 webelos. RM
  6. HOW ABOUT PORTABLE TENT HEATERS. IT GETS COLD IN MN, WE JUST ADD BLANKETS OR GET A BETTER SLEEPING BAG OR BOTH.. ANYONE HAVE CONCERNS -- PRO OR CON--- RM
  7. AS A BSRT COMMISSIONER THE TOPIC OF "WHATS NEW IN CAMPING EQUIPMENT" WAS BROUGHT UP. CAN ANYONE COMMENT ON THIS-- HAS ANYONE USED A NEWER OR IMPROVED MODEL THAT WORKED OR MAYBE IT'S NOT WORTH THE MONEY -- OR IF YOU FOUND SOMETHING THAT THE TROOP HAS TO GET AFTER YOU USED IT AT THE CABIN..... R.M.
  8. I LOOKED OVER THE REPLIES AND INS. ISSUES-- IN MY STATE, IF YOU ARE TOWING A TRAILER IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBLITY AND INS. ON THE LINE. A FEW QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ANSWERED FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY --WHO TOWS THE TRAILER, I MEAN,WITH WHAT TYPE OF CAR OR TRUCK? HOW LARGE A TRAILER (GVW), NUMBER OF AXLES ECT. WHAT TYPE OF BRAKES OR HITCH SYSTEMS THAT ARE REQUIRED BY LAW FOR THAT TRAILER, WILL EVERONE HAVE THAT SAME TOWING EQUIPMENT ON THEIR VEH. I KNOW WE HAVE A LOT OF CARS THAT CAN'T TOW OUR TRAILER. TROUBLE STARTS WHEN YOUR CAR AND TRAILER DON'T OR COMES OFF--- RM
  9. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME BACK IN SEVERAL MONTHS-- I TRIED EARLIER, RAN INTO SOME PROBLEMS -- IT SEAMS SLOW TO RESPOND EVEN NOW-- RM
  10. Good to hear from you-- if you think of anything let me know-- R.M.
  11. I have a few old scouting kerchief slides (BSA and hand carved)I'm looking for photos or locations to look up info. I am into the hand carved slides that were carved in the 40's and 50's -- I have visited many wood carving sites with little sucess ie. Whittling Jim's has a few -- I'm hoping some one could help. R.M.
  12. Sorry I don't know how I got two posts -- maybe someone could tell me how to get rid of one ?
  13. I'm looking to see how other troops keep track or dispensing scout medications while at campouts. Who gets the job? For me with a small troop maybe only one scout may require something minor at each meal. For larger troops what do you do??? any forms you could send? R.M.
