Ed, Better still , can you provide a syallabus for the LLT course? Is it experimental or has your District/Council used it for awhile? Is this something new that National is Beta testing in your neck of the woods (US)? Long Haul, My apologies. I know better but my wayward typing fingers just got in a rut and kept typing "JLTC" over and over again! Of course JlTC stands for ...Conference (Council) and JLT stands for troop and district training just as NJLIT stands for National Junior Leader in Training. Just a thought. We all throw out these acronyms like "JLTC" but don't always indicate exactly what we are talking about. Are you referring to "troop" JLTC or "district" JLTC or maybe "council" JLTC??? For newly crossed over Webelos a district or counncil JLTC may well be over their heads (content and maturity wise) but a troop JLTC would be right up their alley to encourage and prepare them for their scout positions in the future. Right you are - a banner is a piece of cloth that hangs on a wall or between 2 poles. The one I have is longer than it is wide and has a silk screened image of the Eagle Medal on it (maybe 18 inches by 2 1/2 feet). Opps, I guess I should have put that in metric, shouldn't I? OGE & Ed That rather lengthy "ode to a Boy Scout" was from the first edition of the Handbook for Boys, copyright 1911. There was an edited, less poetic version published in the revised Handbook for Boys in 1927 - and no my "grey" does not go back that far although at times I may feel that way!

Another Scouting Forum suggested I use the Silver Dollar Eagle as a presentation at an Eagle COH but didn't have the story that went with the presentation. They thought it had something to do with an aviator who worn it in their uniform OR a homeless man who had almost rubbed the Eagle off the coin. Does this strike a cord in anyone's memory???

Ed, This a little off the thread track but as long as this was mentioned let's tell it all. I do believe that there is one other award a Scouter or Boy Scout can wear on his uniform from Cubs and that is the Religious Emblems Award Square Knot. I have seen adults with the purple background and silver knot on their shirts with either a cub or scout device in the middle to denote the program he earned it under.

Bob White I am not aware of anyone attending the Training Center BUT I do have a Crew Trekking at Philmont late June through early July. Could we arrange a pick up of materials at Headquarters when the Crew arrives? They will not have their own transportation (arriving by bus) so if you had some way of getting it to the Headquarters Bldg I'm Sure Mark Anderson (Program Director)could see that they got it. After reading all the replys I just have to get into this discussion. My personal belief is that if you are going to wear patches do it for the level of the program you are currently involved with. For those of us with scouts in Cubs and Boy Scouts we will probably need two jackets or two blankets or - you get the idea I'm sure. My older son took an old red blanket and cut it like a serape (I helped him bind the neck) and proceeded to cover it with patches from his 7 years of Boy Scouting which encompassed the USA and Europe. Ed, Not knowing how old or young your troop is but assuming they have been chartered by the same church (or not) over the years you might give consideration to using a little Troop Scouting History during next year's presentation. People come and go from churches and there may not be anyone there any longer who was there when it all started and "remembers when"... Start with Troop 1 was chartered to (name of church) in (month, day, year) with (number of scouts), Mr. (name) was the first Scoutmaster. I also came across a reference in another forum about the called song "Scouting Thunder" for bagpipes (of which we happen to have a player or two). This is also the kind of thing I am looking for and I am most greatful for the added information (such as the correct title of the music). I would advise you to, first of all, speak with your District Executive (DE) as they are actively involved in chartering units etc. You are looking at transferring your unit to another CO (this has been done in the past and the unit has kept it's number and tenure "in Scouting" not necesssarily with the CO) not reform as a new unit with a new CO. This happens many times, for many different reasons (ie Church remodeling and can't accomodate a unit for a long period of time, Community organization grows out of step with Scouting, etc) Your DE should be able to "smooth the waters" so to speak w

I am looking for ideas for Eagle Scout Court of Honor Props. Something a little different than what you read about in USSP and MacScouter etc. Anyone have some ideas and/or photos?? Scripts that are different would also be appreciated.
