Chaplains Aid ?

We have a Scout who would like to be the Chapains Aid. I don't have a problem with it as I'm sure he will do a great job and be very responsible. The problem is, is that our Troop Chaplain just moved and no one wants to take over the spot. So can we have a Chaplains Aid without a Troop Chaplain?

We do. I serve as Chaplain when needed. I hope to have a dedicated chaplain someday. But, until then, we do what we can.

Right or wrong, our Troop had a Chaplain's Aide for two years before we were able to recruit a reliable Chaplain. The scouts serving in this position did have an adult mentor - albeit not designated as a Troop Chaplain.

Actually I cant think of a time when a Troop needs a Chaplains Aide more than when said Troop is sans Chaplain.

Yea, I totally agree that the best time for a Chaplain Aide is when there is no Chaplain available. The NLAS web site is very good. I normally volunteer for a week at our summer camp to be the Chaplain and am always surprised at how many of the troops don't even consider having chaplain aids, nor are they really aware of the religious awards program. But then that gives me another little mission at summer camp.
