Popcorn Goals

Just wondering if those that do sell popcorn set a family goal of how much popcorn each family should shoot for?

If so how much?

Last year we had a popcorn goal of $350 in sales per BOY. The goal can be reached thru either Take Order, Booth Sales, or both.

 

We have one family who has 3 boys in Cubs. Their boys make the majority of their goal at booth sales. Their family then just basically buys popcorn for themselves to make up any difference.

We suggest $300 per boy, which they can easily sell if they cover two Show & Sell shifts. We suggest that up front, but it's not as if we track it or make a big deal of those who do or don't reach that level.

We've never done family goals, but we do factor the number of multiple-boy families we have into the equation. Our goals are at a pack level, and we recognize outstanding performance at both the den and boy level. We've also usually had a teaser prize if the pack met its goal. For example, one year the top salesman got to throw a pie in my face if we hit our goal. They did, and he did. I wore my rainsuit.

Booth Sales (actually a GS term!) are Show & Sell booths set up outside a business where boys in uniform and adults sell popcorn to the public.
