No, not me. I rode the ride at Disney World over Spring Break - that may be as close as I get to Everest.

Anyone following the climbs this season? If you are interested, this is a good site.

For the IMG Team, their sherpas reached Camp 2 (21,000 feet). I may have to get Krakauer's book out again; its been a few years since I last read it.

Since I live near Dallas, I have had the priveledge of hearing Dr. Beck Weathers speak about his experience in 96. What a truly amazing and inspiring story, yet I still get misty eyed hearing him tell his story. In one instance, you feel like your listening to the narrative of another man's life, but your sitting there and you see his injuries and realize this is that man. He does add some of the dry humor to his talk, as he points out nonchalantly that surgeons had to grow his nose on his forehead, before they moved it. He is still a practicing pathologist with the Dallas Coroner's Office. What an amazing speaker, If you get the chance to hear him talk, take it.

An Eagle scout from our council made an attempt in 2003. He made it to camp 4 around 25,000 feet, I believe, but altitude sickness prevented him from summiting.

He is now a world-renowned kiteboarder (I realize that sounds like an oxymoron since many of us may have never heard of the sport)
