If you would like to visit us on raceday you are more than welcome. Even if you want to race. I am running the races this year. If you need anymore help my e-mail address is cubscoutmom3@yahoo.com. 2. Hi- Well everyone was real helpful with the Pinewood Derby for me. Now I am putting on the District Cubmobile races. Anyone have ideas for me on how to run the race. Your input would be greatly appreciated. I am the cubmaster for Pack 37 in Murray KY. Thanks, Sandy
  3. Hi Everyone- Thanks for all of the ideas. We had our Pinewood Derby this weekend. I did the round Robin style. The kids had a great time. They loved it because they got to race quite a bit. Thanks again for all of your ideas. I guess I was nervous for nothing.
  4. Hi Everyone- Thanks for the ideas. Could you explain the round robin to me. This sounds like it will work with my boys. Do they get to race more? I like everything to be fun for them. Hey EagleinKY- what part of KY. I am from Murray. Yours in Scouting , Sandy
  5. Thanks Draks89- We bought the cars also because they were on sale. All our boys are using the stock body. They are designing and painting them there own colors though. I weighed my sons car and it was right at 5 ounces without adding weights. Do you do an inspection on your cars for washers and things on the wheels that are not suppose to be there. How do you run your race. I am thinking double elimination. If I can figure out how to chart it. I have been a leader for 7 years and a cubmaster for 1. So running the pinewood derby is new to me. I have always worked it but never ran it.
  6. Well, maybe I shouldn't say this but I think the pack needs a new Cub Master. Yes, the Blue and Gold is a special time for these boys, but it sounds like the Cub Master is thinking about himself and not the boys. We are in this for the children. I have been in scouting for 8 years and I am a Cub Master. I love to see the things the children make. My kids will run up to me and give me a big hug. The kids really should make the decorations. The leaders and I usually decorate the bridge for the boys crossing over and then we decorate a table in front also. The children have fun making th
  7. The kit is in the scouting catalog. It is a complete kit and they call it Scout Car Pinewood Derby kit , Special Edition. The kit has the block of wood. You make 2 cuts on the wood and it has a plastic molding of a stock car. You make the car over the wood. In the past we have just gone with the block of wood. But this kit was in the Scouting catalog. Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks, Sandy in KY
  8. Hi- I hope someone can help me. I am a Cub Master and have been a leader for 7 years. Done lots of Pinewood Derbys but never with the stock car kit. We bought the kits for our boys for Christmas. There wasn't to many directions in the kit. The car fits on the regular track. We Set it up today. Do you still have a weight limit? On the directions there is nothing about adding weights. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Sandy in KY
  9. Hi- We have done our own bike rodeo. Each child has to wear a helmet while doing this. We set up different obstacle courses for them to ride there bikes through. But if you have a local 4-H office they seem to do bike rodeos all the time. Also, you may contact your local police station they may have info. Good Luck
  10. Hi- I have been in Cub Scouts for 8 years and these problems mentioned seem to happen all the time. It is a hard decision to make on what to do. But one thing that I think is real important is DO NOT MAKE THE CHILD SUFFER FOR HIS PARENT"S ACTION. We are in scouting for the children. It is not the child's fault on how his elders handle things. This is a hard call to make. Take Care, Yours in Scouting , Sandy
