Things have changed quite a bit since I was a scout.. For Scouting to survive they will have to bend and sway a bit with the times.. Boys didnt like the old switchbacks because they were too short.. In response, BSA made the new convertibles and switchbacks longer.. The new canvas pants are a definite improvement over the old pants.. The new ones are practical! The pockets are actually useful for carrying things unlike the tiny buttoned pocket on the old pants.. And, they zipp off into shorts! Hello all! For those of you out there who are commissioners and are wondering where the arrowhead award goes on the new uniform. I have an answer for you.. I talked to a guy from national two weeks ago while @ College for Commissioner Science. I also work for National SG and this was confirmed earlier this week... The arrowhead award will be worn in between the sleeve pocket and the CSP.. Commissioners should not be wearing unit number on the old or the new uniform so this will be the new universal spot for wearing this award. Of course there will be people who will adamant

Click23, In regards to the Comm. Arrowhead award.... Dont hold me to this one, but Ive been told that it should be worn directly under the CSP on the left shoulder.. This what we have been telling scouters that ask.. Thats where Ive been wearing mine.. Until a new uniform/insignia guide comes out, we wont know for sure.. My guess is, thats where it will end up. There is no room for it to be worn under the sleeve pocket on the new uniform unless you buy the long sleeve version.. Logically, where else would ya put it? Yours in Scouting...

Eagle92... In regards to the new uniform here is Nationals stance: The new (green) trained patch should be worn on the sleeve pocket flap right above the POR patch. The POR patch should be worn on the sleeve pocket. The new Thorlo socks ARE considered official uniform pieces along with the new green scout socks.. Either socks ARE official! Use the old inspection sheet in regards to the old uniform. If a scout/scouter has one of the new "green" trained patches on their old uniform, it should be worn BELOW the POR patch on the old uniform. Basically, old uniform goes by

click23 is correct in saying that District patched are not authorized to worn on a scout uniform.. I work for BSA-National SG.. Neither of the Scout Shops in our area sell hem. You have to go to your districts roundtable to pick one up.. However, if you MUST wear one, it should go on the right pocket in the "temporary insignia" area of the uniform. A lot of people like to wear them on the right sleeve, under the american flag. The patch police wont come after you, but some people might give you a little crap..

Nationals stance on the new numbers is as follows: When a khaki uniform is sold from the nationl website or from a Nation Scout Shop green numbers are to be sold with the uniform. This includes Boys scouts, webelos and leaders.. Red & white numbers are not to be sold with a new centennial uniform.. As a national employee, this is what was dictated to me by my superiors.. As of August 15th, all red BS loops were pulled from the shelves as well.. There are sticklers that will insist that they will NEVER wear the new colors.. The knot was recalled because it was issued prematurely... There is a two year tenure along with other requirements, to receive the pack trainer knot.. I work for a national scout shop. We received our pack trainer knots this month, this week to be exact. The relelased design is different than what is shown on the back of the "Insignia Guide".. It looks like a standard square knot leaders knot with a striped blue & gold knot on a yellow background.. I have been waiting for this knot as well because Im a registered Pack Trainer..
