erksh, good point. It is really not about age or weight. Or even the law-- it's about safety-- the amount of injuries attributed to children not properly restrained is staggering.
It is generally recommended a booster seat be used until a child is 57 inches tall (4'9"). A child must be able to sit against the seat back and bend their knees over the edge of the seat.
